He could have mentioned how close Cork is to sea-level. Only 4 centuries ago Patrick Street and the Grand Parade and the South Mall were esturine rivers. At high tide you could row down (the now) Patrick Street in your boat, turn left and row along the Grand Parade , turn left again and row along the South Mall. All reclaimed now....but terrifyingly near the High-Tide mark still. The street in front of the Mercy Hospital...Henry Street... was also a river back then.

P.S. The winding shape of Patrick Street was not an architect's fancy design....the street follows the route of the old river.

My ancestors came from Country Cork in the 1890’s. They were O’Connors. Some went to New York and some to Minnesota. We have a family cemetery here in Minnesota.

I never knew J.J. Horgan made it onto TV. He had a long career & wrote a lot. He was in charge of the Cork harbour board.

Centre park Rd. is a road through the middle of that racetrack. The track eventually made way for the Ford tractor plant.

Jane Manesfeild visited cork in the 60s which she described as a cemetary with lights😂...have to say it is my favourite city in Ireland now and quite vibrant,to late for Jane unfotunatly..😅

Who where the Cramer family from Cork? That's my grandfather's father's side DNA through a man name Ambrose Nicolas Yates (Cramer) he took up a man that wasn't his father last name which was (Yates) so my DNA & last name should be of a Cramer.
