Surprised you mentioned the first pirate banner without talking about stall ploy. As strong as B!Hector was we were also in the middle of L!Sigurd's reign of terror and stall ploy was IS just shamelessly selling an attempted solution, made worse by the fact that it didn't even work.

The first banner I think of is base Ike's release banner which came out right before the first hero fest. There were a ton of people waiting for Ike to get in, and then right after he does he does they release what was objectively the strongest banner at the time, with higher percentages.

I ended up allocating so many orbs for Valentines Elise and Sakura. Sure I could've gone for Ascended Elincia, but she's more readily available than Fates' Cinnamon Buns. Also, I am biased towards Elise. I see Elise on the thumbnail, I click.

Looking at the way the game is now, it feels like nearly every banner is just bait to a degree, since most new units and skills gets their competitive viability replaced so quickly. I guess that's technically that's what power creep is. Right now E! Ike is everywhere and I'm actually surprised he's still as dominate as he is considering he's been out for a few months by this point. And while I did pull for him and he definitely carries my A! Raids offense teams, I have other units that does what he does. Certainly not as good, but he wasn't AS necessary for me to do well in the current meta. I guess that's a personal bait for me, which I've certainly done dozens of times over the course of FEH's lifespan: pulling for units I didn't need to have because I had others that could fulfill that role.

I would also say the Ike debut banner was a bait banner. This was because Ike was highly requested and pretty good for the time. However, a couple days later we got a hero fest banner with all of the best units at the time like Ryoma, Azura, Takumi, and Hector.

One thing that was interesting they did this year was the Fates new heroes banner, where they released Mozu, a character fans wanted forever, but the month before released Ascended Caeda, who's literally the same play style as Mozu but much better

Fun fact: In theory, base, release day Azama is the most difficult unit in the game to get deliberately, because he has never been a banner focus, and is currently the only Hero with this distinction

Technically speaking color sharing with bad units isn't even bad because your chance to get your specific focus never changes. Ayra being on a 3 person banner made it easier to get her despite color sharing. This is why the best banner to this date is the Surtr/Yglr banner which was so insane in maxing out Surtr on average in 400 orbs. That said I rolled for both Ayra and Eldigan since I like Eldigan :^) so i wasn't even mad

@@SP_Sour Basically, I was excited for the Laegjarn reveal, Thorr was revealed instead, people gaslit me into thinking she wouldn't be for a while, i believed and wasted my time on her banner (And the ninja banner, cause Ninjorrin) only for her to actually be like a banner later. I have that Laegjarn at +10 now, but for the time, I had it out for Thorr.

I personally think that, at least in Feh, it doesn’t really matter what characters you pull. Most, if not all, level 40 five stars can solo most of the single player content (and the multiplayer/PvP sucks)

I would say hall of forms focus banners are the baits 200 orbs in and I only got 1 Tsubasa for the recent one 200 orbs and I filled the focus charges for Halloween Corrin Like WHAT I’m back at 200 now and I’m scared to use them

I have been playing FEH since day one (unfortunately), and I have literally never used skill inheritance. I have always found far, far more value in any units given kit then trying to optimize it with inheritance. Old units are almost never worth inheriting to due to the deep cost of fodder that would have been, in my opinion, almost always better used existing on its own, or merged into itself. Which is why talking about a unit as its vaule as fodder has always been really wierd to me. Granted, I am a free player, so its not like I have units to spare as fodder.

it really is interesting to think about if it even would have been possible for early fates to have bait banners. just think about it, bait normally is a good unit that immediately gets outclassed, but early feh was still so down to earth that there wasn't really any unit this stacked that it could bait someone. the other option would maybe be using a fan favorite to bait pulling but that only works if you put more than exactly like 5 different units and their 9 alts on banners

Tbf, all banners are bait with intentionally bad rates. I accidentally got a +3 Rat, a +5 L!F!Alear, and a +5 Fallen Rearmed Chrom without trying. When I summon for units I truly need or fodder for certain skills, rng treats me like an abused wife who can’t get out of the marriage because I’ll be threatened. (I know, very specific and horrible, but it is what it is) FEH Pass has good benefits(though in hindsight some features should’ve been free like restarting a map at turn X), but I hate how there’s no yearly plan or a PC version without emulating an android software. Speaking as I love this game and got back into it in the middle of book 7. This game also suffers from content drought bc IS drip feed it.

Brave and AHR are the most consistent bait banners imo. Either the units themselves or their fodder skills become outdated faster than other banners. The latest AHR was no different with the only valuable unit being Peony for her rearmed status. As a year 1 f2p, I dont remember the last time I even tried going for a single spark on AHR

To me what sucks about the Hot Springs banner is that not counting legendaries it was only Ryoma and Sakura's second alt in the game, same with Hinoka and I think Elise, and to this day those are still the last alts for Ryoma and Sakura while everyone else has gotten something from the Fates royals
