Thank you for this video. I live in Canada & my Paternal Grandfather came from this town, He sent a postcard back in the 30's to my Father of "The Old House at Home". I'm pleased to see it is still standing.

A most interesting video -- and I do mean that. I lived in Havant in the 90s while I was working at IBM Havant (which was just near Havant, as you doubtless will know). But (as far as people have told me), IBM Havant became Xyratex following management buy out. Xyratex did not last long, and now the 'old' IBM Havant site has been renovated and hived off to house many small businesses. Can you confirm if this is correct? I have spent many happy evenings in the various charming pubs of Havant -- such as The Ship, on the way towards the motorway. I always thought Havant was a slice of British history preserved nicely -- a charming old-style town. I always thought was a bit mad that IBM Havant had a farm on its own (extensive) lands. This was operated by paid-for farmers and had ducks running around, kind of like a smallholding. It seems a shame that it has all gone, however.

This is correct, some of which are Seagate (Hard Disk Manufactures) & Lockheed Martin....

I did 22 years at IBM, 1971-1993. Part of the main B21 block has been chopped out, the old school playing field by the entrance is now a hotel and restaraunt. All of the IBM cricket ground and football pitch are large industrial units. IBM Havant was the most efficient IBM site in Europe but due to British industry laws was therefore the easiest to close!! Huge waste.

I grew up in the 60's in Havant. I remember seeing The Beatles film 'Help' at the cinema. Not much ever happened there though.....🙄

I remember the cinema too. It was still there in the 1980s but I can't remember exactly when it closed.
