We lived at Leamington Court, directly next to St Elizabeth's Church for over 20 years. The view from our lounge window was Leamington Rd Working Mens Club, from our front door, St Elizabeth's Church and from my bedroom window, the chimney and Holdsworth Mill itself. How lucky we were literally flanked on all sides by such beauty, magnificence and history. ❤️ Thank you for taking me back.

Many fond memories of good old Reddish. Lived in the 'first house in North Reddish': 2 Burnfield Road. The Bull pub was on the corner opposite. Thought we were 'posh', living in good old Reddish. Left #2 to emigrate to South Africa in 1965. But Reddish still retains fond memories some 58 years later. Robert H. Fidler, Scottburgh, KZN, South Africa.

Thank you for this. My Grandparents lived opposite Houldsworth school. A house where my father was born. All three have sadly passed away and their ashes are buried in St Elizabeth's church grounds. so a very poignant video for me.

I worked at John Myer's from 1979 till 1981 then got made redundant. It was the best Place, that I've worked at. I had a right laugh there. I met my best friend there and i still see her after 55 year's. She had a stroke 4 yrs ago.

you should do a canal vid, the stockport link canal went from nelstrops, (albion mill) to Whitehill through to Broadstone mill and down the rear of all the mills still plenty of bits left like bridges , loading points treelines ect, apparently it was just filled in, their was a drive to re-open it, but it seems to have died off,

Great memories! My Mum used to work at Kay's catalogue in the mill. I used to catch sticklebacks and newts under that very bridge. Did you know that Manchester City's famous German goalkeeper Bert Trautman had a shop just down from the bridge. I think it was a hardware shop.
@stephenbroomhead6871 Жыл бұрын
It wasn't Bert Trautman who had the hardware shop it was Dave Ewing

Keith as far as I remember Kays was at the bottom of Hurst St and the catalogue company in the mill was John Myers. Kays manufactured fire lighters

The Union was purchased by another brewery in 1892 (was it built then, I'm not sure?) and taken over by Robbies in 1929.
