Fun Medley! I'm a keyboardist myself, and a few of these tunes, particularly the prog rock ones, are not easy to play! Also a good job at finding patches that approximate the original sound. Thanks for sharing; it gave me some ideas for songs to learn.

Playing weighted keys on some of these is more difficult than it seems.
@MVWDave
@MVWDave 13 күн бұрын
Yeah. No one keyboard covered it all, so I used the Kurzweil, which has semi-weighted keys, and that worked reasonably well for piano, organ, synth, etc., but no ideal for any.

This is Brilliant!!! Just wondering. Did anyone notice how simplistic and almost boring the compositions and parts became as the the songs got closer to the times we live in today? The 50's, 60's, 70's and arguably the 80's were magical for those who practiced and loved their craft. This is a testament to what so many have been saying throughout the years. I'm glad I grew up when I did. Brilliant!

This a great example of what a keyboard purchase is all about. Paying $999 for an 88 key Korg, great buy, but it doesn't allow seemless switching from one patch to another like your Kurzweil. People wanting to go beyond a piano to a workstation need to be asked this question, if they are gigging and need something that flows, then it's going to cost $. Great playing very awesome!
@MVWDave
@MVWDave 8 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I've had other keyboards that specialized in this and that, but for gigging, flow is so important. The "banks" feature on the Kurzweil has been invaluable. Thanks for the comment.

You left out Pink Floyd (Great Gig in the Sky) and Layla - Derek & the Dominoes and you put Usher u.u... In the other hand I'm really impressed that you could play the organo solo for Karn Evil 9, soooooo impressive.

I was going to mention the stability of the keyboard stand, but I noticed you added an annotation about it to the video. Besides, as long as you're comfortable with it, it's not really my problem. ;-)
@MVWDave
@MVWDave 8 жыл бұрын
+macsnafu Thanks. I didn't even realize it was that bad when playing. I thought it was kind of funny looking back at it, but for future videos I will use a sturdier stand.

Great video! I will say that your killer playing still can't hide the fact that this keyboard doesn't sound that great. The tambre of the Kurzweil is OK but it sounds so digital I was surprised.
@MVWDave
@MVWDave 3 жыл бұрын
I can't really argue with that. I got the keyboard a few years back for gigging. It's lightweight and has a lot of sounds, but the sounds are dated. Planning an upgrade soon. (Thank you for the comment on my playing)

I got a question, but the person took it down (or there was a glitch). Just in case, I change sounds with a foot pedal. I have banks on the keyboard with 10 sounds each. Then I change from bank to bank with a switch on the keyboard (you can see my hand jump up every so often). Thanks for the question.

Thank you so much. The sounds weren't all internal. I recorded audio and MIDI, so I replaced some of the sounds with samples from my computer. I used Native Instruments a lot, some of the logic Pro X sounds, Ivory II for some of the piano sounds. Yes, time consuming indeed. Glad you enjoyed it.
