If you like Colm Meaney you should look up the films the snapper and the van. They are based on the books of the same name by Irish author Roddy Doyle and set in Dublin Ireland in the early to mid 90's. I live in Dublin so the setting and humour are very familiar, I just wonder how well the films will travel, especially to America, but both them and the books are well worth looking into.
