He took his girls to the movies, they clearly aren't afraid of him when he calls them "bitch" so they know he doesn't actually mean it, and he even refers to them as "friends" and shows geniune concern. What a legitimately fascinating character for what is usually a one-note stereotype -- an intelligent, strong, empathetic leader who only dies due to bad luck.
