All the upholsterers know the 'notches' are guides or reference points to do a precise sewing. While sewing procedure the 'notches' should meet one in front of the other.
Most of the times a pair of scissors are useful to do the so called 'V notches'. But, it is possible to get one of these devices at an upholstery store to consider it in our shop.
Even though, I can buy one from the aftermarket I would rather do it myself. This time a pair of 'grozing pliers' one of those tools a 'glassworker' uses to chew off/nibble glass edges would be useful. These pliers have a flat lower part and the upper part is arched.
As we can see, a mototool and a set of small grinding stones and milling cutters are useful for this project.
Although procedure is somehow tedious and time consuming I have enjoyed a lot giving shape to this small upholstery tool.
I hope you also enjoy the video and inspire yourself!
Cesar

You have given me an idea! I need to make a plier tool that punches holes in boot welting. All the tools I've seen are inappropriate as they assume you are making belt holes!

The most important thing I did not see how I did is the age sticking on the handle and whether you added it or not visualized the scene. And how to apply and reduce the jaws do not vary

Wow... a precision work!!! Some months ago I purchased a normal notcher in Internet and it struggles to notch some upholstery leather, and after watching your video I can, at least, try to manufacture one like yours, but I am not sure if I can reach your level of perfection ;-) Thanks again for the great video, and I hope that your son's camera was not "injured" with the Dremel sparks while recording this video ;-)

This tool will make its debut to the bucket seat in a next video where I will show one way to make its two cushions backrest and bottom seat. It is possible after an upcoming small upholstery video. No problem with Alex, my son. He is been recording far away using the camera zoom lens. Thanks for always keeping an eye out for these videos! You are welcome anytime!

Cool idea and nice video. Have you ever tried an ear notching tool? I have seen a few upholsterers using them.

I have used the same yellow glue/cement for artificial leather...I mean vinyl, faux leather, etc. As I am located in Mexico, trade marks are different. But, if you are in USA, please, check these links: angelusdirect.com/products/all-purpose-shoe-cement www.ebay.es/itm/Petronios-Master-All-Purpose-Cement-Glue-Shoe-Repair-Adhesive-Glue-4-oz-/112032405167 www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-Weldwood-32-fl-oz-Original-Contact-Cement-00272/100125525 www.dap.com/dap-products-ph/weldwood-landau-top-trim-high-heat-resistant-contact-cement/
