Hi Ollie This really is great work that you are doing for railway preservation, not just for yourself but others and future generations. It also shows how much work is involved in getting these old wagons/vans etc back into some use. Its a bit of of an un-seen aspect but none the less vital project (for safety at least) and to do most of it on your own is also (or should be), inspirational to younger enthuiasts to get involved in the 'heavy lifting' and engineering side of railway preservation. Excellent work sir! Very well done.

Whilst you have the van over the pit I'd keep working on the brakes. Otherwise you may have to move it before everything is reattached. Still loving this series and the box van diaries.

Yeh it’s best to make the most of the time over the pit but just a shame it makes for boring viewing I guess!

Coming along great definitely complete the brakes and any other under frame work before moving on. Might just be me being pedantic but I know you treated all the running boards with wood preservative so it’s up to you but maybe while you have access underneath paint the underneath of the running boards a bit of extra protection for the wood at least it’s just I keep noticing them in these videos lol

All the running boards are coming off when I paint the wheels on the outside so they will be completely repainted top and bottom then! Hope you’re enjoying the series 👍

Hey Ollie, probably sorted by now but noticed at 8:15 you have undone bolts on the underside of the treadboards you replaced earlier. Just in case.... ! Ignore me...... looking again don't think they are finished yet. I forgot you jump from one thing to another 😊

Great vid, I noticed you didn’t put any lubricant on any of those brake system pivot points.? Are they greasable? If not, won’t they just cease up with rust again eventually ?

I use grease and a copper lubricant, I’ll show it in the next video if I remember!

Have you tested the vacuum cylinder for the train brake yet? Just wondering how hard it would be to fix if seals gone

This is only through piped, so no cylinder. It will have air brakes fitted at a later date

Hi ollie hope your having a nice day I just wanted to invite you to cauldecotte miniture railway to run your locomotives I am personly a volunteer at my minitre railway and they will allow you to run all your locomotives pulling passengers or just running on your own we have no realistic rolling stock I'm afraid however if you join for 30£ a year you may run your engine any Sunday however please join our railway before you bring any locomotives or rolling stock we have raised 5 inch and 3 1/2 inch gauge track with a ground 5 inch and 7 1/4 inch ground track.
