Writers, stop it. If someone is desperately trying to get a warning out through a short little window of signal on their phone, they aren't going to write out this huge-ass short story in excessive detail. Have them state that they will upload a document they've been writing to keep track of the situation. This is far more believable, and can literally just be part of the opening sentence setting the scene for your story. Easy, believable, doesn't break suspension of disbelief, and super brief like you would expect in a sudden "my phone has signal? I gotta warn everybody!!!" situation. Bonus: this document can also explain why your protagonist is writing in the present tense, if that is your preferred writing style, because they're updating a journal of sorts, rather than recounting the last 10 days in a warning text or Reddit post or whatever the method of releasing this warning comes through as. And, if you don't actually post a separate document in your post, you can just "I'm copying and pasting from this document" which may actually bd faster than uploading it to some other site and posting a link; again, emphasis on "I don't know how long I will have this connection to the outside world, so faster is better."

I feel as if this story was missing a lot of key information. It's as if the story was made to be a lot longer but the author had to condense it down leading to a lot of details being lost. This lead to a lot of topics being brought up then brushed under the rug. Examples include: -What was the blood being drained from the corpses about? -How did the one dude get infected? -What is the infection? Story just has some lazy writing as well. One thing I see a lot of authors doing when they don't want to describe a creature is they just refer to it as a "dark figure." Like come on we can at least try here. Story did have its good points however. It was a very creative story and had good character design. Story just needs polish and connecting details.
