​​@@TechGuyBeaualso If they have included a realtek or mediatek wifi card you can request for an intel one through Legion support. it's free but they do tend to avoid giving you one so you need to do a lil manoeuvre and how you gonna demand it. in my case they offered me 70$ + 50$ refund for the Wifi and Bluetooth card though I just convinced them to get me those intel ones instead. realtek one's are extremely slower than intel

Tbh, if you want battery life, flip to silent, disable any boosting, limit max frequency and use AATU to limit wattage. You'll still have a boat load of performance because its Ryzen and the battery life will balloon like you wouldn't believe.

Built my own of this and just ordered it the other day for 1500$ from Lenovos site with summer sales and other coupons. only difference is I got 4060 instead of 4070 because I saw that the difference wasn’t immense. @@ijlalahmad9652 I have this one with a 4070 and the ryzen 7 7745HX and the games that i have played are always around 100-120fps with everythging at max at 1440p obviusly some games run better than others but is really good. The battery really sucks but it charges really fast so i cant complain the speakers are meh but that is to be expected its heavy, its reaaaaaally heavy and so is the charger, i haven't put it on a scale but both things (charger and laptop) may be at around 8-10 pounds together I really do like it, besides the weigth i really can't complain much to be honest 1500$ is a little to much but i have no regrets

Afterburner doesn’t show you how much VRAM is actively getting used, only how much is allocated. A game may request almost all available VRAM, but won’t fill up all of it. A more accurate VRAM usage measure is in certain PC games’ settings, the game itself will show you how much VRAM a given set of settings will use.

@@asmrcuzzi It has been excellent since I got it mid November. Very reliable and no issues whatsoever. It is not Lenovo's fault, but the one thing I would change is to have the 4070 with 12GB or more of VRAM instead of 8GB. The best thing I can say about this laptop is that in four or five years when I look to upgrade, Lenovo will rank very high in what I consider getting.

18:13 , I think this 7745hx 5nm idle power usage is more due to desktop like chiplet design, while 7040hx 4nm is non chiplet design but perform similar and consume less on idle. Both laptop may have equal and comparatively less power consumption than intel under full load.

It is clear from the Lenovo website (on the US side) that they are in a stronger relationship with Intel when it comes to the Legion lineup. Trying to find an AMD based Legion is frustratingly difficult to navigate to. Even after that, trying to find the "Pro" version is even harder to do. The "Pro" version is listed along with the intel variants. Also, I can't find them with the newest RTX 4000 series, but that is not important to me. I appreciate these videos, otherwise I might not know what is currently available from Lenovo.

The 2021 version is £899 on Ebuyer in the UK at the moment. It's RTX 3060, but it's still gonna play all current gen games in 1440p at mid- high settings. Absolute bargain and a pure beast of a machine.

PD usbc means u can charge the laptop through that port... A monitor connected to that port WILL NOT POWER. Also the side USB-C port has display port capabilities. So in total you have 3 video output ports.

Legion 7 speakers have way more bass. Legion 5 is very clean and nice but lacks bass absolutely. Legion 7 Gen 7: 9.5/10 Legion 5 pro Gen 8: 7.5/10 When compared to all laptops. If you factor in it’s a gaming laptop, not a MacBook or something Legion 7: 10/10 Legion 5: 8.5/10 Most gaming laptops have trash speakers lol. Legions are entirely decent

Nice review. I have this laptop for a few a months and i’m content with it, but the CPU is hot as hell sometimes. Short story: Dead Space 2023 is killing the CPU in perfomance mode. I used perfomance mode(Fn+Q) in dead space, for 5-6 second, and the temperature was around 103-105 degree celsius. Some games in the perfomance mode are CPU killers, so be carefull. Next Legion will be with intel.

Great review! Can you tell how the CPU thermals hold up for the AMD chip this year? I’ve seen a lot of reviews where the temperature goes up to a 100 degrees on full usage. Even here, on 20-30% usage the temperature was almost 90, which seems a bit much for a laptop with such beefy cooling. Intel chips seem to be doing better in that regard despite the higher power draw. Any thoughts?

The 2023 Legion slim 7i has full metal body. Can anybody confirm if 2023 Legion slim 5i is also metal or plastic? The Slim 5i supports 64GB RAM, but Slim 7i is slimmer and only supports 48GB. 7940HS slim 7 is awesome, can't wait.

It will run fine. Day to day tasks will be nothing for this gpu at even 4K. (Or 8k in theory). Gaming will also be fine at 1440p ultrawide. Just maybe subtract 15% from my gaming benchmarks for fps

It's 8 high tier performance cores and prodigal efficiency, as well as good value in terms of pricing relative to the more expensive and largely unncessary 7945Hx or the overpiced and power guzzling 13th gen Hx parts, should make it the ideal Cpu for gamers. Only pity is that this model is gimped by having the notoriously underwhelming 4070 laptop, which isn't much of an upgrade at all from a 3070ti, with only its power efficiency as a real positive. Hopefully there will be Amd Advantage options with the as of yet unannounced 7700mXT and 7800mXT, which should run laps around the 4070, while offering more vram which is crucial, since 8gb of vram is no longer sufficient in 2023 (let alone in years to come) at resolutions above 1080p for demanding games at high/ultra settings.

You might consider last years legion 7 Gen 7 amd. It has usb4. I have a comparison video between that and this laptop coming out soon. Just need to find the time to edit it

i have gotten a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, cpu is ryzen 9 6900 HX and gpu is rtx 3070 Ti, 16gb ram. This is my first rtx laptop so I’m excited for gaming and the performance and to see if battery is good, also I’m gonna try to keep up to date with GeForce experience, Lenovo vantage updates, and windows updates. It’s very very good right? And a Beast? :D

@@laurag1864 I ended up going for the slim 7 because it was lighter and had the same power with a bit better battery life. In the end battery life didn’t matter as much because I always had my laptop plugged in anyways. There will always be an outlet around somewhere, plus it’s needed if you want to use max power on ur laptop. I also liked that the slim had the fingerprint reader.

Yep it’s an error. The specs on the website say 300, but my model (and I think all high end) are 500 nits. I confirmed by checking the actual panel itself. Definitely a 500 nit panel on this model

I'm coming from an Alienware 17 r3 from around 2015 so this laptop seems like an ultra-portable to me. Love the build and the form factor. One thing about the 240hz screen is the colors seem to be a little muted out of the box from what I'm used to on the 4k screen on the Alienware. Is there any way to adjust the colors so they pop a little more?

Nope. The screen is what the screen is. These come pre calibrated. Your only option would be to get a slim 7 or a slim 5 OLED really

Well… I wouldn’t buy the acer regardless. So the Lenovo wins by default. But also to answer your question. Both CPUs are good, so get the better gpu (4070).
