Thank you for this video! I've started using Midjourney for coloring books in February and already the coloring book that I've made is my bestseller that brough more than a 1k in April. I'm scaling the business now and setting up a newsletter to get people's contacts for faster launches. What an amazing time we live in. There are limits to what Midjourney could do at this point - there are topics at which it is weak. However there's still lots of room for experiments. I totally understand the concerns of the artists. If I was them I would grab this new tool and try to use in my advantage. It is not going to go away. I would add that you'd need to either upscale or vectorize your images before putting them in a coloring book. By default Midjourney images are too small for print.

It will eventually. A big company will buy out Midjourney and the rest, then they'll remove the tech from public access and take full advantage for themselves.

Infinite colouring books, comics, real-life photography, cartoon creations... they can copyright all of this and make trillions. If they do privatise it, I hope someone leaks the source code etc Also remember, they've trained Midjourney on millions of copyright artwork... so who knows where it's going to go legally in the next 6-12 months

@@TheLondonCyclist I doubt that's gonna be the case. As for copyrighted images, real artists also learn on copyrighted images. As long as they do not copy the original verbatum or present themselves as the original author I don't see any evil in that. The same goes for AI.

Thank you for a descriptive video. I also want to mention, in regards to the dog/puppy images that wasn't mentioned, is that some of the images that are created by AI have small noticeable flaws, such as the puppy's feet. If you are capable of altering those in Photoshop or some other graphic software you should be able to make the necessary corrections to make them right. AI is pretty amazing and as an artist I find it works as a tool to help me in what I create.

Thanks for you positive feedback - most comments I've received from artists so far have been a negative opinion about AI. Yes, they do have some flaws. I did make some where people have extra fingers etc lol But, yes, editing the images would be fairly easy to make sure they are right.

You're right. It's typically people's hands and animals hands, feet or legs that come out wrong from time to time. I'm always taking that extra second to check the generated images for these small errors. As most of the images come out correctly I'll usually opt for one of those. If there's an image I love but it has small flaws I'll fix them real quick in the Canvas Editor of Leonardo AI. It works amazing. You could even upload your Midjourney generated images to the Leonardo Canvas Editor to fix small details. I think it's very cool that you're an artist and use AI as a tool!

I love MidJourney and am still learning. Apart from KDP I have loaded some AI images on ETSY but there is strong opposition to AI there, understandably so as it is a handmade craft platform. I always state that AI was used to be transparent. MJ V5 seems to have improved on hands, feet and legs...yay! Now I want to learn about further upscaling for printable wall art. PS try --AR 17:22 which works for my 8.5 X 11 Inch books. I love how you make it all look so easy. To this day I struggle with bleed.

Midjourney should begin making plans to raise their 25 free limit right away. As an alternative, AI technologies like Blue Willow will become more and more popular over time. Blue Willow, in my opinion, will be the one to take down MidJourney

as someone who enjoys coloring as an adult, I have to say that once I find out that a coloring book is made with AI, I refuse to purchase it. I've returned some in the last few months once I found it was AI as well. Many of my friends in the community are of the same mindset as I am. Good luck in your journey but for me, I plan on using my purchasing power towards artists that I already have faith in.

@@mrc7593 Some of it is word of mouth in the community. If a new company is able to push out 5 - 10 coloring books within the last few months, that's a bit of a red flag. Also, there are some tells in some of the AI work (extra fingers/toes/eyes) and since I'm assuming the same software is being used for a lot of them, the backgrounds and other elements are very similar.

Really helpful to see you go through the process, thank you. How are you finding the quality of the lines when at full size? I've been working with Midjourney since the beginning of the year but can't get the images to a technical standard I'm happy with for colouring books. The images look great at a glance, but the lines and details often have the appearance of melted plastic up close, and upsizing using any of the available upscalers can't fix this. I could work on them in photoshop but it would just take too long to fix. Personally, I'd be really disappointed to receive a colouring book that didn't have completely crisp and well defined lines and details throughout so I'm interested in how people are achieving this, or if it's just worth waiting for future versions of Midjourney to keep improving.

I stay away from A.I. As an artist/illustrator, I can create my own art, coloring pages, puzzles, etc. My experience is that KDP and other publishers do not allow the use of A.I. images. You would have to lie and say you did not use a. I. To get your book published.

As an artist i will not be supporting any books or works created by ai. So many people already cannot find work, ai is only making it worse for us all. It makes me sad where our society is going. Humans are already getting dumber and lazier. Without a grocery store most people cant grow food or hunt. We have lost our survival skills and depend too much on modern technology. Very sad. Even our food is now fake and made in a lab. I used to get paid a lot for my work, after the pandemic so many people work from home,they are hiring remote artists from india for $5 an hour and soon replace them with ai. What purpose do humans have if ai will do most of our work? Ok my rant is over

You can use AI to leverage your work as an artist. You don't have to not find work, you just have to be creative and figure out this new tool. Current artists also work on current technology with whatever they have, ex. most artists copy largely from photographs which is also a creation of technology (unless you are a fully traditional artist and create everything from life, which I am--but I'm also tech savvy and don't mind AI). AI will take current jobs but it will also generate new jobs. AI can do great things but it can't do everything a human can do. There will be new jobs, new niche. If you can't find a new niche it will be hard to survive, unless of course you already have a client base and you earn enough doing traditional art. I'm sure even the artists now who paint in oil or watercolor or do digital work will soon be using AI images as a reference instead of photos. AI is not going away, and it will infiltrate every corner of society

I have had a couple of those. You could either just keep generating images until you have ones that are correct or take the image to a graphic design program and edit them, if you know how.

Yes a lot (horses with 6 legs, dogs with 5). Fingers and hands were the worst with MJ V4 but a bit better now. You can utilise eraser tools or just re-run with variations in MJ till it gets it right

It's very tricky but you essentially upload the image back to Midjourney or use the original reference code as a reference. You essentially train it with past images and prompts.

When I had the basic plan it worked by time. Like the 10 dollar plan gets you four hours but the next one up gives you 15, and if you spend enough time rating pairs, the throw free hours at you.

You need to find the midjourney bot and enter into a link with it. Sorry this is vague but I managed to do it, probably just by accident, so now the only images I see are my own unless I choose to go back to the generic page with all the newbie rooms etc. The disadvantage is that I can't see everyone else's prompts unless I go out of my own page. Hopefully someone else will answer your question in a more sensible way
