By the way, unless you pay for the GPT 4 subscription, it has limited knowledge of things after 2021 i believe meaning that inaccuracies about new products are definitely gonna be common

Being a Roland player I can understand the bias! For me i've managed to get the sounds from my TD30 in a better place through EQ/compression and FX and more so on our X32 desk. But even now I still miss the real feel of my acoustic. My compromise for live performances is a hybrid...Zildjian cymbals, electronic drums approach it works really well on a Pearl drum rack providing that punch you need in small venues while still being audibly controllable. With the exception of our guitarist we've eliminated our backline allowing us to run a predictable and well controlled sound/gig

Hey "Ya Boy"! I have a 7pc A2E (Tama/all Roland) setup with a TD50/TD27 going into a MacBook via Midi running SD3 (Death & Darkness). I have used this setup for around 2 years but as I'm progressing with my technique (more Technical Metal) I find the latency (set to its lowest and feeling good back when I set it up) is screwing up my playing. When I hop over to TD50 sounds, it feels like my playing improves tenfold and I have way more control and perception/timing but I also have to slow myself down because it feels like I'm playing ahead of myself because of my years of compensating in SD3. Roland sounds sound so bad and I hate editing them but I'm more satisfied with my playing when I use them but SD3 sounds incredible but my timing is servery impacted when I try to play something that required precession and speed. It wasn't an issue before with slower stuff but now it's getting to be... Do you have any suggestions on how I could bring this latency down? What are my alternatives? I use a TD50/TD27 because I have more instruments than a TD50 can manage and I use 4-5 Digital pads also, it's a pretty OTT e-kit tbh. I used to have a Pearl Mimic during my trial phase but I just wasn't getting along with it, plus Roland's digital pads are too good not to use.

The TD17 being too compressed is not wrong, but I found it's only noticeable if you play a higher end module from Roland right before playing the TD17 (Entirely anecdotal)

It’s not AI, it’s a probability algorithm trained on the text present on the internet. It doesn’t have a bias, because it doesn’t think anything, it just picks words in the order that they’re most likely to appear based on its training set. Any perceived bias is due to what’s previously been published online. This chat-parrot is not AI

I understand that it doesn't actually "think" anything and that any perceived biases come from the data it's trained on. But from everything I've read up about ChatGPT, it's referred to as an AI in pretty much all cases due to the way it works. What would it take for it to be classed as a "real" AI, in your opinion? Genuinely interested, I have no horse in this race!

@@TheeDrumWorkshop They call it AI because that’s the current marketing buzzword. But it doesn’t pass muster if its processing stops at “If X, then do Y”. AI Systems are autonomous, and will learn on their own through data experiencing as opposed to human programming. They’re proactive, they can identify success & failure, & learn from it, & make decisions based on their past history specific to the situation. “AI platforms should do more than answer simple questions. They should be able to learn at scale, reason with purpose, and naturally interact with humans. They should gain knowledge over time as they continue to learn from their interactions, creating new opportunities for business…” - spokesperson, IBM Watson
