Before you type, "Why not just use human voices? These sound like junk!" I hear ya! Perhaps you didn't get to the "better" voices in the vid. Of course, a robo voice can't replace a real radio VO pro...at least, not yet. This a solution for indie radio operators who have small budgets, but BIG ideas. Since I made it, the quality of AI voiceovers has improved. Currently, I'm using Elevenlabs and lovin' it! Use some of my guidelines and take those bots for a spin: radiodjdude.com/elevenlabs

C’mon man! That’s was sooo cool! I’ve been looking to start working on jingles and sweepers to put in my VO background. Though your video is what some say too basic it’s exactly what I was looking for. Love the secret sauce. I’m a Studio One user so trying to translate some of your settings seems challenging but your explanation was great, eventually I’ll get it.Thx Jeff!

hi! do you pay any license for broadcasting? I've started my own radio station but I don't know if I need to pay copyright license, and if so, to who do I need to pay? I am broadcasting on my own website, through shoutcast, from my pc, on listen2myradio. So what license do you need for an online radio? Thank you!

I use Live365 for hosting. Part of their service is to cover music licensing fees. Since I play hits from the 80s, I didn't want to risk it. There are ways to get a blanket music license, but they seem complicated and expensive. Live365 isn't cheap, but their packages with commercials are a little less expensive.

Drab is robot voices from a free website. From the school of "you get what you pay for: nothing is better than this". I'll take an $800/month VO professional with 200 stations on his resume before the station sounds like the Noaa weather station. Boohoo to AI.
@RadioDJDude
@RadioDJDude 6 ай бұрын
Sounds like you didn't hear the robo voices from the pay site OR Elevenlabs. I hear ya, though! It's impossible to compete with a seasoned VO pro. BUT, that's not the point. These are ideas for folks who don't have access to $800/mo for VO services. Must be nice! :)

Yes, you can. BUT, make sure you find one that sounds realistic. Nothing worse than a robo-voice spewing a long script. In short bursts, AI voices are usable...at least, the free ones. There are better options for a price.

For internet radio, I've only used RadioDJ. Some people like SAM Broadcaster Pro. It's full featured, but almost $300. Here's a blog from '21 comparing all the apps: www.cloudrad.io/radio-broadcasting-software For simple audio editing, I love Audacity. Price is awesome, too...Free! For multi-track production, I use Adobe Audition. Most multi-tracks apps do the same thing, just with a different GUI. Find one within your budget and go nuts! :)

Yes, you're spot on: Human VO artists sound better than robo talkers. No question! If you have the $ to hire A-list talent, go for it. Most internet broadcasters don't and need other options. However, the tech has evolved since I made that video. Some services offer speech-to-speech functionality, which allows you to infuse vocal variety and inflection into AI voiceovers. Very cool stuff!

Not sure. There are so many services to choose from. The best quality AI voices usually come at a premium...not free. All depends on how believable you want the voice to sound. You need to sample a lot of voices until you find the right one.

These sound terrible... especially when they are supposed to be "magical". You can hear the tone shift up, even with weird station sound effects, on top of them. I have been fooled before, and will be fooled in the future, but I don't see these replacing jobs.. it's too much work to get them to sound good, when using someone you are already paying would be cheaper and faster.
