I travel to Corozal, Honduras, to learn step by step how Garifuna Coconut Bread is prepared. I buy 100% natural ingredients, go out into the mountains to chop firewood, and shred coconuts to start the process. My teacher for the day, Chef Francis, has been cooking and selling Garifuna food in Corozal and La Ceiba for more than 50 years. She walks me through the kitchen and tells me about the village, the Garifuna culture in Honduras, and how she met her husband.
At the end of the day, I give my coconut bread to the residents of Corozal and they each give me a score from 0 to 10. I then show you the different ways you can eat coconut bread-including with the spicy cabro peppers.
Thank you very much Chef Francis and Diego for organizing the class.
