On Jinx and Silco. There is NOTHING romantic there. When Jinx or Powder suffered her biggest trauma arguably, losing Vander and her sister, her brain suffered a shock, along with PTSD, causing part of her to stay there as a child, while her body matured. This happens in real life too for those that suffer deep trauma at a young age. The mind just can't progress past trauma sometimes as a defense mechanism. So while her body is a teens/young adult, inside she's still a little girl who wants to be held by a parent, so she goes to Silco's lap, much like she probably did with Vander.

That isn't the problem at all. Any technology can be used for violence, a bat can be a tool of war. The actual problem is that despite Jayce's good intentions he's only focused on treating the symptoms of the problem and not the actual problem which is the corrupt and oppressive societal inequality of his city. Topside will exploit and oppress zaunites, and crime lords will violently brutalize and abuse zaunites with or without HexTech, Heimerdinger sandbagging HexTech for a decade won't make any difference in that there's already horrific levels of suffering happening. The actual issue with Jayce's plan is that something like the Atlas Gauntlets wouldn't suddenly allow mining crews to work with less fatigue, its that the increased productivity of the gauntlets would cause the people making money off that mining to exponentially increase the quota those miners have to make, working them even harder. Jayce is trying to improve lives by building beneficial devices but that won't help without creating regulations and legal protections to stop people from being exploited and abused by those in charge above or below.

Fun fact that spider sense like dodge is a real phenomenon. Called Hypervigilance, it shows itself in victims of trauma, specifically violent trauma where they remain acutely aware of their surroundings despite seeming out of focus. In reality they're in extreme focus. People who suffer from it experience a slowed passage of time, acute reflexes, shallow breathing, increase heartrate. Its like constantly being in the "fight" portion of fight for flight.

The writers intentionally made Jinx and Silco's relationship weird because they're both 'fck'd-up' (for lack of a better word) individuals. Jinx is emotionally damaged and didn't grow up properly so her outward affection for Silco is more like that of a child and Silco, who legitimately cares for Jinx like a daughter but he also shares a bond with Jinx that he perceives Vi's betrayal of Powder similar to Vander's betrayal of Silco. It's complicated.

To be fair to Caitlyn's mom, Jayce did endanger her daughter's life in the beginning by having ILEGAL equipment without them knowing which caused the explosion of the building in the first episode, Caitlyn's parents were his patreons and trusted him to do things the right way, even the workshop in which Jayce was working belonged to them. She had reasons to be mad AND SHE STILL vouched for him in the counselors room on the trial!.. until he mentioned that he was trying to create magic, which for Piltover's citizens is not the brightest idea since they said that Piltover was founded to escape de warmongering of mages, so i don't think it's fair all the hate she receives. She is a counselor after all and her actions reflect on that, can't afford to be on the side of someone who was considered dangerous at the time.

I get that Heimerdinger is a gentle and enjoyable character... but don't think that he is innocent. He is the founder and the oldest by far... which means that he helped create the undercity, by ignoring the problems. Heck... he helped support it! His worldview is only based on his own lifespan, meaning that he walks around spouting nice words and all, but he doesn't DO anything. He never helps anyone directly... he just spouts old-man "wise" words. To him, 10 years is nothing and he doesn't try to understand the suffering of people. His words sound sincere and empathetic, but they are really not. He basically tell Viktor, that it is really sad that he is going to die, but he doesn't try to comfort him or help in the research. He sits at the concert, enjoying the music, while the world around him is full of corruption and behind-the-scenes deal-making.... yet he has NO idea about what is going on around him. Heimerdinger is the head of the council... but he can't keep his own people in line... let alone the city. He just lives of the respect that he once earned. TBH he is very much at fault for how things have turned out... or at least partly to blame.

I think the reason it affected silco in that way was because of his open wound on his eye, so the toxins only harmed him since they got inside him and probably spread to his veins etc. So if you’re going in it without any cuts or something like that, one time won’t do anything. Of course it probably isn’t totally healthy to go in the water more than once even without any open wounds, but i’m sure silco knew that himself. Because it obviously was a very traumatic event to him so he definitely wouldn’t want to experience that pain again or cause it to the only person he loves.

Yeah, he's not actually helping her in any way. He's just obsessed with the idea of her he's created in his head, one thats more about himself and how he's projected his issues on to her while basically ignoring who Powder actually is and the things she actually struggles with. Silco's incredibly unselfaware, and their relationship is just that of an damaged abuser and his damaged victim being trapped in a destructive codependent relationship that feeds both of their toxic coping mechanisms. He pushes her in the water and tells her to suppress her trauma because he's just wants to turn her into a vision of himself, and is oblivious at best to the harm it does to her.

Yes and also when you consider shimmer used as a medicine for Vi. I like how this show truly showed the upsides and downsides to drugs. In little doses shimmer could be helpful and it could be a miraculous drug, which makes it all the more impressive as it was developped in the undercity, but it can also be addictive and have negative effects on the body when one takes too much.

Actually, untrue. Silco isn't injecting shimmer, he is draining it. The tool he uses is a lancet, meant to pierce, not inject. And he used it well before shimmer was properly developed.

Fact is the main theory that is shared among the majority of viewers is that he injects shimmer in his eye and there is far more evidence that supports this than your theory.

@@andythierry5402 Silco's eye fluid is likely the proto-version of shimmer, leading Singed to attempt to cultivate it in other specimen. Unlike my previous comment though, this is merely speculation. Because what i said earlier has hard evidence. We get a close up shot of the tool. It's demonstrably not hollow. It also lacks the signature purple glow typical of shimmer. Just like Silco's wounds lack the glow when Jinx tortures Silco. And i know Silco used it prior to the proper completion of shimmer because the show straight up tells and shows us this to be the case. Episode 1 introduces Silco while he's using the tool. In ep 2 Singed confirms shimmer is lethal in it's current form, when Silco asks about the state of Deckard. Shimmer wasn't ready for common use in act 1. Why the hell would Silco use an unstable, deadly substance as medication when he's already been dealing with the wound for years? Unless you assume the creators made a mistake when animating the lancet (which you really shouldn't), this is an open-and-shut case.

It's amazing how many people side so completely with Heimer when not once in S1 does he ever offer any ideas, take any action or do anything to even try to help any of the cities problems. Even when the polluted exploitation of Undercity is given a face by Viktors terminal illness, all Heimer does is offer some empty platitudes. Heimer made himself so willfully ignorant to life outside his bubble of wealth and privilege he even had the gall to ask how the E4 attack could happen, despite the fact he was leading the council when the bridge massacre of undercity civilians took place practically yesterday for him. Jayce even asks Heimer flat out for a plan to start fixing the insane levels of suffering and misery that exist in the city Heimer himself founded, any plan at all, yet not only does Heimer have no plans beyond "it'll fix itself somehow if we just wait long enough"- he dismisses the topic out of hand as a thing not even worth talking about. Heimer's arc in S1 is very much about the banal evil of apathy, how inaction itself can create suffering. Half his city is a horrific slum where kids live in rubble, drink polluted water, and half the populace is suffering a horrific addiction epidemic under rule of crime lords, but because the status quo works for him up there in his high tower he's just blind to any need to do anything that might result in change.

About Piltover X Zaun conflict... They are not two different cities, in fact. That is Silco's (and Vander's, formerly) goal: to make Zaun independent from Piltover. But up to this point, "Zaun" is just the name that undercity people use for this part of Piltover. They are not very explicit or descritive when it comes to Piltover's history (or at least not up to season 1), but some hints are given. What is possible to understand from the show only, Piltover was founded as a safehaven by the union of different tribes and clans - possibly as an outcome of the encounter of migrating clans with native (to this region) ones. The main economy activity, at the beggining, was propably only mining the fissures - wich makes sense, since it developed to be an industrial and heavily industrialized city. What I understand is that in the same way that a lot of labouring cities was built by workers around the major industries back on ours industrial revolution, is safe to assume that Zaun as we see it grew by the hands of the miners and the first industrial workers too. This process (similarly to ours, again) gives a geographic dimension to a financial/social/political difference: the ones who work in mines and industries end up living in this neighborhoods around they place of work, while those who owns the mines and industries are free and more resoursefull to develop a different kind of city architechture and life across the bridge, "far from the filty ways of those trenchers". (I don't know if I was able to make myself clear, I swear i look wiser on my native language lol)

That’s the same name of the woman working with Jayce and Vikktor that was making moves on Vikktor (also called Ms. Young), so she’s known him since they were both little which is nice. Also, some people don’t pick up on the fact that Marcus kinda lead Jayce into having enforcers search everyone at the border (due to Silco’s threats). Even though he’s a constant thorn in the sides of others, Marcus is pretty smart and crafty (especially to have been hiding his corruption this whole time). I’m very interested to see what you think of the last 3 episodes, I think you’ll have some surprises waiting for you

That's not the case at all, I'm afraid. Remember, there's no record of Vi's name, or what she was arrested for. If she was to be the one Marcus used to satisfy the Council, all her information would have been front and centre. The only reason Marcus saved her was because it was something Marcus could latch on to in order to convince himself that he was still a good person (you get a hint of this when he tells his daughter that Greyson was "A good woman.").

Heimerdinger, though right about most things, is always speaking from a very privileged position being around 200 years old. He doesn’t think about the fact that humans usually barely live to 100, or in Viktor’s case with his illness dying within the next few years. Of course they’d want to work as hard as they can to see the progress in their lifetimes. That’s Heimerdinger’s biggest flaw.

The little creature by Dinger is called a "Poro" they're just little cute fluff balls in the game on the map and game mode Howling Abyss or ARAM. Also the play they were attending in episode 5 was some sort of Ferljord story which is another region or faction in the universe, a lot interesting characters there along with noxus which is a warring faction. My personal favorite faction of characters are from Ionia, specifically two brothers, which I hope they elaborate on in season 3.

I think a good way to understand Silco is to see him as a revolutionary chief. He wants a revolution and wants indipendence, he is fighting for a future great cause that doesnt care for the present people in the now because the cause is the future. Its s classic "for the greater good" kind of mentality. Which isnt right but helps understand is actions more. On the opposite side, Vander has a "status quo' kind of mentality. I keep my people safe by maintaining the status quo. Which is good for the present more or less, but bad for for the future. The show tells the downsides of both prospectives. The only real right prospective who matters is the Firelighter's one. They are trying to build a better future by fighting the evil of both sides and protect their people in the present.

Hey Cody & Bridget! Finally, u have gotten to this awesome animated series. I had hoped u would have reacted to it sooner. Sorry to see u guys get so much flack for disliking Silco. One thing tho, Cody u did say Silco is evil. I just think that evil is too harsh a term. I do think he is villianous. He was trying to get his Nation of Zaun by any means possible not caring who he hurts to get it. He stabbed Vander in the back & the front. He was going to make Vander & his children disappear before Powder blew everything up. He has a drug cartel & like half the people in the undercity hooked on Shimmer. He threatened Marcus more specifically Marcus' daughter w/an "accident", if Marcus didn't get the Vi & Caitlyn situation under control. There's more, but I'm just stating why I think he's villianous just in case any Silco lovers try to come after me. He is a complex character, but he's character is not a good guy. When I 1st saw the interaction between 18 yr old Jinx & Silco in his office, I was a bit wary of their relationship too, but then realized that Jinx is mentally stunted never really growing up past the age of 11. She kind of proved that while she sat on his lap or the arm of his chair & played w/his eye syringe like an airplane. Silco just sees her as a daughter. Moving on to the time jump between ep. 3 & ep. 4, it's about 7 yrs. I looked it up after I 1st watched the series because I was curious how much time lapsed. These were the approximate ages of the main characters before the time jump. Powder was 11, Vi was 15, Caitlyn was a year older/younger than Vi, Ekko was 12, Jayce told us his age 24, Heimerdinger told us his age 307, Mel Medarda was 26, Viktor was 28, Silco was 44, Vander was 45 & Sevika was in her mid-late 30s. Ok, I guess that's it. I always find it a joy watching your reactions.😊

Why wouldn't Markus arrest Vi? He started the episode off going to arrest her and Vander sacrificed himself. Vander dying doesn't stop the fact that someone has to get locked up for it and Vi is the one ultimately responsible. Markus did his job according to the Council's orders.

The exact length of the timeskip I believe is unknown but it's somewhere in the ballpark of 5 years-ish. It would put Vi and Powder at around 10 and 15 years old before, and 15 and 20 years old after. Again, ballpark numbers, but it seems to line up, and would be just about enough time to build all that new infrastructure

Pretty sure the creators have said it was about 6-7 years. Powder was like 10-11 years old and Vi was 14-16 years old in act 1, in acts 2&3 they’re about 16-18 and 20-22.
