This is some of the best work I've seen out of the mini 2. Really crisp definition. Grading is on point and runs the gamut from warm to cool to contrasty to muted. Beautifully shot and edited. Hard to believe this comes out of the small sensor.

yes, I notice a massive processing of color grading in post, maybe the mini2 was able to make these types of videos natively (sharply they are not very detailed and with white balance in low light condition...very questionable)

It's almost hard to believe that this was just shot with the little mini 2, but then again, 4k is 4k but..... no one in my mind is gonna get this great of footage without doing all the things you did, like: Great shooting technique, great lighting (golden hour, sometimes), great editing, and a really keen sense of beautiful and interesting things to shoot. You did a great job here. I don't think anything could have been better, unless you had some kind of Zen muse, zillion dollar camera, and even then, I wonder if it would be that much better. This just goes to show what somebody with talent and do with a tool that cost less than $500. or so. I'll bet this video doesn't hurt sales of the mini 2, one little bit! Marc T.

@@dinnersat630 i would wait for dji to fix it to be honest. As of right now its a bigg deception. When it does work its really fun the quality is nice for such a small sensor. That being said, I have encountered multiple issues. First one being that its losing control and deciding on its own, even with very good signal. It got me scared quite a few times already and was really challenging to get it back as I had to "fight" against the drone. Also, getting multiple times to calibrate the imu , which takes quite a while , and sometimes wont fly correctly , sometimes it did and asked to calibrate after landing, which makes it a long and painful process and well losing some precious footage... The gimbal , its got some issues staying straight from one side. I can confirm when I get another unit if this one was a faulty one but even when it moves with the power off, you can notice it going back straight from one side, but not being able to pull back straight from the other Side. Then again after multiple tests and calibrations (auto or manual in flight) it still is not straight way too often. Finally the gimbal have some other issues , like if you are doing a 90degree video (top view) , when you start to move forward, the camera will pop instantly Up like 15-20 degrees, for no reason, which kind of ruins these classic top view moving forward footage...

@@jeffrockr Hey Jay thanks for all that information. That really helps me make a decision actually. That sounds like a rough time. These things aren't cheap and it's not just about the money right, losing control of a drone sounds terrifying because this thing could land in traffic or on someone or into a building etc. That sounds really unfortunate and disappointing for you and others I assume. Having to calibrate it constantly does sound like it would take the joy out of it then on top of that when you're doing the top view and the camera just pops up....we buy these drones so that we can get smooth cinematography. Nobody wants jerky footage. My friend suggested I get the Mavic Air 2, not sure if that's any better but you also have to register the Mavic Air 2 and it would have a lot of restrictions I imagine which also kinda takes the fun away from just going outside to a park and having fun with it. Hmm I'll definitely have to wait on this one although I really have an urge to buy it, hearing this information is very concerning and really sways me into not buying it. So did you return yours for an exchange? I guess they can do updates to the drone? Hope it gets better for you, keep us up to date on this cause I'm really interested if you can get a better one or find some solutions to the issues you're having. @@dinnersat630 i was going to but the stores are closed here because of the lockdown , so I used it until I got an answer from the seller customer service. They suggested me to deal with dji so I contacted them. They replied this afternoon so I will be able to send it back, from what I understood. Now its in the hands of my gf as she bought it and have required informations for the exchange. I still fly it here and there, testing things when it behave well and landing it quickly when it acts crazy. I tried it again this afternoon at two different locations and I did not have the calibration problem, nor the weird loss of control , I used a carpet as a launchpad, maybe that helped for the calibration issue. Cant tell why it went so well this time but ill take it!! The gimbal pop up normally occurs only in sport mode (and its normal in that mode) and it only hapened once in normal mode this time. Pretty sure that will be fixed in futur firmware. Now as for the horizon it still struggles to get straight very often, hopefully a firmware can fix that too because its not handy even tho you can manually adjust it in flight, its annoying and can make some rotating footage impossible to capture straight. I still cant figure out what it is thats causing the crazy behavior and kind of hope it doesnt hapen everytime I launch. But I have to say again, when it does work, its really fun and the quality is really good for an entry level. I got some really nice footage I was impressed. Not the best at zooming in 4k but you can get some nice loseless zoom quality when using HD or 2k. I have yet to try every modes but I think Its quite capable for the price... Hopefully the replacement unit and future firmwares will solve these weird issues. Its a fairly new product so I can understand some minor flaws but this possessed like thing scares the shit out of me. Anyway let it a few months but its got a lot of potential.

Hm I wonder if there's any way that feedback is being sent to DJI? Either when you plug it into your computer or through your phone (is your phone what you are viewing the in flight camera with?). Sorry for the noob questions, I haven't done a ton of research on it yet I've mostly just been watching footage from it. If there is feedback being sent then it's good on you for continuing to use it because that's going to help fix the issues quicker. Or just emailing technical support at DJI. Like you said it's a new product so there's bound to be technical issues. The only other RC flying thing I had was a helicopter, a Blade 120 SR and that was over ten years ago. Even with that I noticed that the controller was extremely sensitive and it could easily start drifting if you weren't careful. So there's a possibility it could be the controller sticks or the controller hardware itself? You say the footage is pretty nice though? One thing I've been noticing is some of the footage looks ever so slightly choppy. Like when you're playing a video game at too high graphics settings and the frame rate is just off a bit. I might be looking for this more because I'm so used to watching it for it in games and also in video editing, using slow mo and whatnot. Just wondering how smooth the footage really is, wonder just how much better the Mavic Air footage is. Nice you don't have to register the Mini 2, not sure but it seems like drone rules are pretty strict when it comes to registering them and taking a course then only flying in certain places. Even with the Mini I'd be a little freaked at first if I were to fly it over a highway or something haha. I can only imagine. Sounds like it's getting better for you, keep on enjoying it and I'm sure it will all get sorted out eventually in one way or another. I read that the Mavic Air 2 has a follow me feature and also some sort of fpv feature. Not sure if they're out yet but that sounds pretty neeaatooooo.

How does it perform in windy conditions? its my main concern with getting a drone. I live in Wellington/NZ its extremely windy here pretty much everyday lol.

It has no problem handling light winds up to ~38 kmh, and gusts maybe up to 50. So surely you can't fly everyday, maybe not even most days. Wellington is windy af. So you'd have to be careful maybe check the wind speeds regularly for a couple of days do get a feeling for it. Otherwise a heavier but also more expenses drone will be able to Handel the wind much better. Perhaps Air 2 s, or a proper mavic pro... You can also check the wind resistance of the different models on djis website.
