I was hooked in the first minutue, when NDSU plant breeder Juan Osorno introduces himself, showing him in the crop field and then cutting to a sophisticated phytotron. We hear his voice speaking English with a Hispanic accent saying "I love what I do." Fantastic for teaching, especially if you teach at an HSI or other MSI.

hope he's keeping an eye out for an open pollinated variety. that one in a bazilion plant that has separate male and female flowers.

So can they do multiple generations in a year? Since it only takes about 2 months to grow the beans are they they growing year round inside?

i would think that the inside growing bit was just so they can control the pollination crossing. They could definitely get 2 or 3 gens in a growing season, however these things are probably marketed to farmers as spring beans or fall beans. at least i'd want a bean adapted to spout in may and different one adapted to sprout in august.
