I'm drunk and high and live in europe, found out yesterday that we only had peas and fava beans (dried for the winter) before the influx of american beans!

Drinking beer and just loaded black beans into the slow cooker at 11 pm. Its surprising to learn that beans associated to certain cultures were originally imports from the Americas. When the Covid-19 panic hit the USA in March of 2020 the food, especially meat, milk, eggs, rice, and noodles/pasta disappered from the grocery shelves in hours. I bought dry beans as a hedge against long term shortages. Eventually about forty pounds of beans were accumulated. Its time to start consuming the hoard.

I'm an avid gardener and bean grower in the middle of Michigan. I grew up eating a lot of Navy Pea beans and Great Northern beans, but I really like finding other beans to grow and have found some wonderful beans over the years and also been cross breeding them to find new seed coat patterns. Thank you for this introduction. I'd love to see more details on how we know what beans came from where and the genetic trail of each of the beans that they think are the oldest domesticated beans.

How was the audio recorded on this? It doesn't sound very good... it almost sounds like an edited video call?
