Andrew, I think it's wonderful that you feel confident enough to have sequential psychotic breaks from reality and share them with the world. I have a suggestion for you. I think you should name your music: Sonicism. it's sort of a portamento of sonic and ism. it can also be used to describe a sonic event imbued with sarcasm. I've been growing bamboo and making instruments out of various iterations of this undervalued grass that grows almost everywhere. As far as your Kalimba goes: 1.) make an extension out of nuts and bolts that will allow you to add additional throw weight at the end of whatever tine you choose to experiment with. The additional arc of the tine will increase the range and both bottom and the top of the original arc. 2.) Make tines out of toothpicks for an upper register sound that will be tight, short, and thumpy. 3.) Use the metal components of broken screwdrivers. 4.) purchase a set of those very small bicycle lights that people usually attach to the spokes of their wheels and attach them to the end of whatever tine you are using so that the lights will flash when the tine is being struck. 5.) Create tines using bamboo 6.) about halfway up from the bottom of the instrument create a series of holes that run alternatively on both sides of the instrument. Take a guitar string of any size and string it through all of the open holes you can turn the string by placing one guitar tuner on the instrument or simply shove seashells, coins, dowes, and any other configuration that will tighten and loosen and change the length of the string. 7.) get a couple of those stick-on pick ups and a fixed them in various places on the instrument. Then you can run the pick up cords either into a splitter or directly into two or three different amplifiers. I believe your Kalimba would benefit from amplification, a looper, and as in your video, as many external devices as possible. It would be wonderful to be able to record the subsequent sound and be able to fly it into your DAW as a sample, or create mini files on the fly. What fun!

I’m not sure the slinky’s have enough tension to function as a reverb, at least based on what I saw in the video. Any vibrations they might be picking up are dissipating in the slack. It’s like that twin can and string phone, if the string isn’t taut the sound won’t transmit.

the pitch bend on the cat keyboard reminded me of chibi robo park patrol, when you're playing music, you control the tempo by drawing circles and the speed is based on how fast you draw so it kind of has a similar wavy imperfection to it lol.
