A Otomo shoot interview would be the jewel in the crown of this channel if you could make it happen. Keep up the good work lads.

Who knows when that would happen, considering he's been plugging away at his newest manga series since 2012...

FYI guys...I passed on the review to the researcher/archivist that put the book together. Overall he was really thrilled but he said there were some things he wishes he could have explained in more detail!

Cannot get over my feelings of heartsickness this morning as I learn that this horrible headline is actually true. RIP Ed Piskor!! I hadn't discovered CK until 2022 and videos like this one first brought their feed to my attention. Listen to the amazing clarity of their critical observations! This channel brought appreciation for craft and the artistry of comics to a level that I hadn't heard in a very, very long time. The world needed Ed Piskor and it needs more artists of his unflinching candor. Now he remains as an example to the rest of us.

Another great vid guys! I picked up Genga in japan back in 2018 and its incredible, a lot of original pencil and inks that are blown up to large scale.

Genga is an amazing book, it's the 'catalogue' for the massive exhibition he did

It's an incredible book....I was able to find it at a local used book store for $100! I couldn't believe it....I still had reservations on spending that much on an art book until I opened it up and looked though the pages....completely blew my mind! So many images in that book that I have never seen before..made me appreciate his work all the more.

Pretty sure those Akira stills inside the dustjacket are from the trading cards that came out in the west in the early 90s.

I have the art book, Kaba! Got back in late 80s! Absolutely beautiful and bizarre at the same time! Marvel/Epic was starting to do Moebius collections around that time! Big wake up call for me! Interesting, inspired blast that is always needed especially for American comics! Thanks again, guys! ( binge watching everyday!) Tadah!

Check out his work in Legend of mother Sarah; pretty neat stuff. The art by Nagayasu takumi is also stunning. (And just for my two cents)It probably has one of the best female leads.

Never too much Otomo or Akira coverage for my taste! My complete re-scoring of Akira in synthwave style is almost done... Should drop in October: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oX-7eYhubd5jgsk It will be in 4K with a complete sound mix including English-language track and sound effects, just a different score. I know that's an insane thing to do and the original score is brilliant. I just wondered what it would have sounded like with an 80s Tangerine Dream or John Carpenter kind of vibe.

Pretty sure the book on Amazon is not this book, rather a folio of 20 posters.

Yeah this one they have is over $100 if I can find it thru other sellers and only seeing the 20pg art book version.

I always meant to add this comment when they talk about how he was shooting images on TV. Camcorders were omnipresent in society then and you could directly hook them into a TV. I would assume he was just pointing it at the image and using a camera to take the shot of the TV screen

Hi guys! I see you enjoy Katsuhiro otomo. But you forgot « Mother Sarah ». I heard Katsuhiro don’t want to talk about it. Can you make a review of it please?

My guess is that by “Western color”, he means more rendered color.
