I really enjoyed this tour, as the wife and I were there for a week in July of this year. My wife was selling plots with the Nairobi firm she works with, and I was collabing with Mombasa KZbinr Man Kilits in both Mtwapa and Mombasa. You passed by our Airbnb and the town is very clean, friendly people and very chill. Asante sana for the recent memories.

One thing i like about monbasa and entire coastal realestate compared to many towns even in Nairobi outskirts their apartments are built with some architecture in mind, but in Nairobi if you go to the outskirts and rural counties their apartments look like just brick put on top of brick with no any architetecural design but really ugly with no thought put behind the buildings and look they are just about to collapse. They look they are built so cheaply just for that landlord to make quick money using inferior materials

Funny to watch you touring "my" town on and off for 11 years. Enjoyed your video, all your videos, in fact. Still trying to catch up 🤓 A couple of things: Real estate in this area is as muddy as it can get (and as muddy as all of Kenya) A lot of traditional land is simply grabbed and sold by employees of the Lands Office and all kinds of often dubious middlemen. One minute you have a title deed, the next you can spend your time in court for ages. So look out! Real estate is expensive here and people happily sell the neighbors plot. The market was relocated some years back. From "centre" of Mtwapa (wherever that is) to the outskirts of town. And people have not yet gotten accustomed to that. A lot less customers, sadly. Mtwapa main street (Malindi-Mombasa road) used to be packed with bars. Very, very noisy bars. That has, fortunately, changed since Covid. The crazy sound levels and pumping bass have gone down to an almost human level. Many bars don't keep neighbors awake 24 hours anymore. It is possible to sleep at night now. Moorings, the restaurant, is still a great place to go. Excellent food worthwhile the higher price range :-)

Hi! European living on and off in Mtwapa. Where you want to settle or stay depends on what you want. Malindi and Mtwapa are very different. As stated here, Mtwapa never sleeps. However, more now than before Covid. Malindi sleeps .... a lot. But nice beaches. You get more Swahili vibe in Malindi.
