same though i might have some asian ancestry (most likely Mongolian though) it's really good. though i also do love songs that are in a more operah style in general (a good example would be certain songs from the band Nightwish or Xandria specifically songs like a Theater of dimensions or the greatest show on earth they are long songs that take a lot of inspiration from operah )

I showed yunjin’s opera to my great grandpa the other day and he seemed to rlly enjoy it! I told him that this game is slowly bringing back this dying arts because a lot of young ppl are interested from it and he seems quite happy^^

You have to understand, she’s singing at that volume….UNAMPLIFIED. Or at least that would be traditional practice. These singers train for decades to be able to produce that magnitude of sound. “Singing for the back rows” as they say.

@@yukii5633 i think they meant the collab between hoyoverse and yunjin's singing va, which is a pretty famous singer in china. since the game is also pretty popular overseas, it brought attention to chinese opera from westerners that never heard of it.

And she put her own interpretation into this too! The first being her using a lore accurate sword instead of the original spear. The second being her making the sad part where Shenhe finds an empty village much more muted only to then make the announcement of the "epilogue" much more triumphant than the original! I used to wonder why old people can watch the "same" plays over and over again, but now I'm beginning to understand.

Our local TV broadcasting company used to broadcast several cultural programs and one of them is some performances of Peking Opera. As a kid, I was so mesmerized that I try to imitate the actors moves. I don't understand the language nonetheless what I watched moved me that I still remember them til today.

I think Genshin has actually helped chinese opera evolve into something modern, it is exactly what traditional chinese opera needed to attract younger generation to appreciate chinese opera again.
