So sorry to hear about No Name. He was a nice looking buck, and it was fun to always hear you talking about him & Lucky 13 when they ate there together. Mother Nature is so cruel sometimes. I had a trail cam video earlier this year of a coyote carrying a fawns head. I was so mad, but I understand it's just part of nature. Y'all ha e a blessed Sunday!!!!!

That was a snake bite, no doubt about it. Deer hate snakes, and they go crazy around snakes. That was clearly Forrest trying to stomp a snake, and getting bitten while doing so. Deer are not the animals most people think the are. Deer are very mean, and they even kill and eat other animals. Yes that is correct, deer do in fact attack, kill and eat other animals. A deer will kill any animal they can, and they will eat it too. Nonetheless, they seem to really hate snakes, and will kill any snake they get around. Deer will come into neighborhoods and attack and often kill all the cats and dogs. People think deer are just scared animals, but in reality they're not scared of anything, just cautiously smart. They will attack anything if hungry or if they think they have to defend themselves.

Sorry for your loss of Noname..my little buddy Austin got in a "gentle" tussle with a buck with antlers, & he learned a quick lesson..opened his forleg @ the "wrist" on the outside and a bad slice on what would be our knuckles..he's been healing well, keeping up now..we spent some quality time together as I overwatched for him..he ate good, got his rest, that was the best I could offer and he appreciated it..deer are to be respected for what they are, and loved on their terms.. Good to see that you understand & share appropriately..sadly they live in a harsh reality, but they live in a moment more deeply than we do..they live, love, and appreciate..Noname was lucky to have a quicker passing rather than a lingering.. but such a loss nonetheless..stay safe guys

Rut started here, I'm as nervous as the deer, watching the boys get all worked up..I am so lucky to be immersed in their schedule and neighborhood..be safe, live to see so much more.. I have to steal some time to catch up, hope all is going well, thinking about pecans...😋! I'm pulling Swiss Chard from my garden next, wonder who's going to pop over my shoulder to help!😂 gotta go as a 🦌🦌are here now!

Sorry for the loss. It's really strange though. I had a dream this morning that a few family members & I were at a park & saw a few deer running & then we were in the middle of the park & two bucks started fighting! It was a little unrealistic though because they were leaping & twisting high in the air & kept coming close to us. We were running away & finally got away from the park! Really crazy dream! It could just as well have been Forest meeting his demise in the fight! Applying this very tragic loss to our spiritual side of life, the old devil is constantly searching for the niche in our soul that will allow him to settle in too and be able to destroy our godly side of life! It’s really too bad that it happened, though it’s natures’ way of preserving the strongest to produce the very best of offspring. It’s not Gods’ desire that one should die their sin but that we should become stronger spiritually. God is willing, ready and able to redeem our souls if we are willing to accept His wonderful grace. God's Creation is forever intriguing and wondrous, amazing design. Interesting how Forrest was so close to death himself, probably at the horns of another big buck. He is only doing what he was designed to do. He is such a big bodied buck, his antlers are indeed lethal weapons. Please be extra careful Jimmy, at least until he gets over the fighting phase and gets more loving on his mind. Take care!

Sorry to hear about your debacle Jimmy & Chris. A couple of days b4 that happened I was out early in the morning. The day b4 that I had an older buck with a cough & I was checking on him. That's when I noticed a 3 yr old acting very strange looking to the NW. When I got to where he was looking I felt sick. I had a 3 & a 5 yr old that had been together for a couple of years were down. U could tell there wasn't a fight. A record high temp in October a few days later led to a cool evening. The 2 put their antlers together & the younger one turned his head 45 degrees & they locked. After the old 300 lb buck had killed the other trying to unlock he laid down 3 to 4 times b4 succumbing to the trauma. All the while dragging the other over 50 feet. Both antlers r locked forever & it took a 50 gallon galvanized water tank to put them in to store them until I could clean up the mess. The worst day in 25 yrs & I hope that u never have to see it. Oh my gosh, Joseph, that definitely is a bad happening. I am concerned about that and have seen it a few times in the wild. Sometimes you can get em apart but it’s very dangerous. Certainly can and does happen. Lucky 13 had a small tree or beach stuck in his rack yesterday evening. Glad it was only a stick. Thanks for sharing. I feel for you. May God Bless. jimmy

@@TwinEagleRanch Thanks Jimmy. My plan is to clean both skulls & keep them intact cuz I know those antlers r fused together forever. Both had long tines with stickers & the larger one had over 50" in mass with a body over 300 lbs last fall. His neck this year was as big as my waist. Too much work involved especially when u think about how nice it was the evening b4 when I fed them. That pumpkin slices is an everyday thing & they ❤️ it like Forrest ❤️ his 🥕. 👋

Last night, I went outside to check on a cat (stray) who adopted us last winter. She was sun bathing on top of palettes we had stacked. After checking on her to make sure she was okay, I turned to walk back to my house and a large buck was stomping his feet at me. The buck, 8 point was not happy with me. He stomped, then stood still glaring. He made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. There were no female deer around that I had noticed. I think I spooked him going out the side door of our home to check on the cat. I'm sure he'll be back for corn later. There's nothing better than living out in the country.
