The Black Prince and Geoffrey Chaucer were both real people. Chaucer was well connected to the British royal family, he worked for them as court poet, courtier, diplomat and civil servant. He served Lionel of Antwerp, Duke of Clarence the Black Prince's younger brother. He was a close friend to John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster another younger brother. He also served Richard II, the Black Prince's son.

Not the first of its kind... Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves (1991) - kinda campy in its own right, a lot of fun, action, adventure, romance, and even some graphic violence for those who dig it. It's all there. Main theme : Everything I Do, I Do It For You - Bryan Adams - It may be a ballad, but Bryan Adams is/was still contemporary rock used for a medieval times film. You are correct, though, modern tunes with period flicks seem to work surprisingly well.

"A man can change his stars" - the perfect quote to sum up this beautiful movie. Friendship, courage, love, plenty of action during the tournaments and a lot of comedy on the sides. The love story between William and Jocelyn was epic, from start to finish. The part where she drives William mad, Magy related a bit too well to that 😂 Count Adhemar made for a perfect villain, constantly proving to be a thorn in William's side until the very end. William being the only one who was willing to treat Prince Edward fairly during the tournament paid off in the end, getting knighted for it. Geoffrey made for a phenomenal hype man and his logorrhea was hilarious. Roland and Wat supported William from start to end, like true friends. Their little quirks were enough to make them relatable to the audience. Kate the blacksmith really stood out with her fantastic talent, crafting that light yet durable armor for William and offering advice along the way. The reunion between father and son - what an emotional moment, so much love between the two of them. Thank you for the beautiful reaction and the hilarious commentary ❤

Pretty much a perfect film imo. Never fails to make me tear up. His dad's scenes or even when he gets knighted. The scene where he gets knighted is so amazing dude. Truly a lesson that you can do anything if you put you're full heart into it. And the romance in this is more like true love. He doesn't want her because she is royalty and she doesn't want him because he's a famous knight. They love each other in spite of those things. PERFECT They were actually jousting but the lances in this were basically stunt lances, designed to shatter for a cooler movie effect. Real jousting is so savage, not getting knocked off your horse is genuinely impressive.

It’s a shame that we lost Ledger at such a young age. He had a world of talent and probably had more Oscars coming his way but sadly it wasn’t to be. He left a few masterpieces to cherish. As for the reaction it’s a joy to watch Magy. Some reactors have crushes on actors. Magy has a crush on romance. She roots for love in her reactions. It’s one of the endearing aspects of her reactions. Keep them coming Magy.

I love how his knightliness isn't just about being kickass at the sword and lance. At every opportunity he shows noble character. Virtue, fearlessness, mercy, tenderness, loyalty, mettle, true to his oaths, turns words into action. The Black Prince thought he was BSing when he said William was descended from an ancient royal line, but my guy really was born knightly or something.

I was in Junior High when this movie came out and it remains one of my favorites! Heath Ledgers character and his three guy friends are literally like how me and my friends are to each other, especially back in High School lol! The actress Shannyn Sossamon who plays Jocelyn, she became one of my favorite Hollywood crushes and still is to this day! I met her a few months ago at a Horror Convention called Monsterpalooza, she quite literally looks the same as she did in this movie, hasn't aged a day! Got her autograph and a picture with her, really fun conversationalist, and a total sweetheart, she gave me a hug and said that I was really sweet lol! Glad you enjoyed this underrated classic :)

When Mark Addy has to prompt the crowd to cheer, it's because the crowd were Czech extras and didn't speak English, so they didn't understand Paul Bettany's speech. So Addy had to ad-lib the cheer.

Great movie and reaction, my favorite part is the making him loose then win with the line "and how I hate her" (that got trimmed out here) I also liked him in the Patriot but the while the role as the Joker was well done it led to his death as he got dark to get into the role. RIP H. Ledger BTW Chaucer was a writer and this is based on his works. The Black Prince died in battle before being able to be King and was like shown a leader of men that chose to go into battle or hide his title to go among his men. Others like the Black Prince included men like Churchill, who boarded navy ships under a low rank while being in reality higher then the Captain of any ship he boarded like that. Also with Churchill I would suggest a read of his time in South Africa (Technically as a reporter) and became a fighter, POW and escapee. This is a historical fiction as is the Patriot that doesn't pretend to be factual but does very well to portray a historical period with modern music in this case. If you do the Patriot, like this was based on the real works of Chaucer, the Patriot is based largely on the real life Francis Marion (AKA The Swamp Fox). Like this the name is changed and it doesn't pretend to be a history but a story in a historical period that shows a historical ideal. It also is part love story, but have tissues ready it will make you cry and angry at times. You cried this time and I'm sure it will make you emotional too.

I actually think that Jocelyn's challenges are quite clever. Now I don't think that 'testing' a relationship all the time is healthy, but Jocelyn is asking to see two things. 1) Don't do the big, showy demonstration of love that you already want to do because it makes you feel good about yourself,. Show that you can put your feelings aside and consider mine. 2) Show me that you can persevere even when you are at a disadvantage. She has seen him when he is doing well, she wants to know what he will be like if things are not so good. A good partner is willing and able to consider how others feel and can adapt to changing circumstances. Is it contrived and not totally applicable to life outside jousting? Sure, but they haven't known each other long so choosing a more realistic indicator would be hard.

Paul Bettany to-do list: ✅Avengers/MCU/Wandavision ✅A Knight's Tale A Beautiful Mind (with Russell Crowe. One of the best movies I've ever seen. I actually got to play a role based on the person Crowe plays in a stage performance in college. It's a dream role for an actor. Of course I got a standing ovation... as one does lol) Master & Commander (Russell Crowe again. They're fond of each other.) Tha Da Vinci Code (with Tom Hanks. This one's a ride.) Solo: A Star Wars Story (People didn't like it, but I had fun with it. I liked it a lot more than the sequels. Legion I hate him just a little bit because he married Jennifer Connolly. Well... that has gotten me to shut-up from my pestering for a bit. I'm very happy to see your reaction towards this film that is a brilliant classic growing up while watching it with my dad. I don't know if I was the only one who had suggested this film to you through out the comments, but I can say that I love your reaction through and through. Hopefully we'll be able to see you reaction to Dragonheart and Reign of fire a long the way. another good suggestion of a good film is called A Good Year 2006, and as Halloween is coming up soon I was thinking of films such as An American Werewolf in London, Dod soldiers, Interview with the Vampire, Underworld film set, Insidious film set and The Decent. So yeah you should have a good selection of films for both you, Laura and the audience throughout your plat forms.
