Just finished this book. Very interesting. I agree with most that the best part was the middle with Dua, Odeen and Tritt.

Thanks for sharing! I recently read that Isaac Asimov considered the Alien part of The Gods Themselves the best writing he ever did.

Take a look at Jay W Forrester's 'World Dynamics', published in 1971. The graph (figure 1.7) on page 10 of the first printing shows how due to environmental abuse the world population falls from 6 billion to 2 billion in approximately 2070.

Asimov was always a miss with me. I read the selections that he himself considered his best work in a volume of short stories. Didn't love any of them, and many were a chore to finish.

I've only read The Gods Themselves and the first Foundation book. Foundation was okay. The Gods Themselves was great. I think I will read I, Robot next. But yeah so far I think I enjoy Heinlein books more than Asimov books.

@@samuelpedro4972 I've read some Heinlein as well. Not a great plotter, in my opinion, but his writing has some merits. My son really liked Starship Troopers.

I am an Asimov fan and do not recommend reading I, Robot. It was my first Asimov fiction and I was highly disappointed. Foundation was great but not very character driven. Foundation and Earth plus the prequels IMO we’re the best. The Gods Themselves changed the way I thought about how a book could be written. The culmination of the 3 parts (especially resolving part 2) was very satisfying as a Sci-Fi fan.

have it in a same book with end of eternity also read foundation 1 amazing how this is a really great book and those two are boring pointless meandering like someone who thinks they know how to rule the universe as emperor forever pipe dream

I don't agree. It's a homage to selfishness, stupidity, egocentrism, most of the characters made me sick, especially Dua, Odeen and Tritt. "Above all else, ME!" My quotes.
