Pretty sure they make watches of that diameter to suit that size of wrist. There is no "right size for a dress watch" only a right size for a given wrist.

For a 7.5 inch wrist like mine this is the perfect size. Anything smaller looks out or proportion.

@@benmilesbc they do, their sweet spot has been 38.5, they have started to down size the 40mm saxonias and 40mm 1815s to 37/38.5mm a few years ago. An all dial watch wears bigger. This would be my choice in term of dial and movement but its older and part of the bigger watch craze. 38mm suits a very wide range o f people.
