It's not 12.9 mm thick. It's only 12.2 mm thick. They reduced the size of the bezel by .4 mm to reduce the case size.

I am admittedly a Lange fan boy and actually own a Zeitwerk Date that I love so take my comment with a grain of salt. But, I've had the opportunity to try the platinum Zeitwerk on a couple of times and it is absolutely stunning in person. Before seeing it in person I assumed that the silver dial against the platinum case might appear a bit washed out. Boy was I wrong! It really pops. As to the comment below on reliability, I'm fortunate to say that I've not had any problems with any of my Langes.

Take a look at it next to the rose gold version if you can. You're original opinion of "washed out" might return 😂 I was set on the platinum, til I saw them side by side. Then it was a no brainer for the rose gold.

No matter how beautiful this Zeitwerk is, it is not the best watch to be honest, the movement is very prone to failure and repair/maintenance is extremely complex and expensive.

the movement was updated in 2017, no issues of any zeitwerk watches after that year.

I dunno, new movement seems to fix those issues. Expense is relative. It's a 100k peice with 431 parts. It's like buying a Porsche: don't buy the car if you can't afford the maintenence. I almost bought I cayman, until I found out how many basic things require the whole engine to come out 😂

@IVAtheLT. Then I’d be inclined to buy a 2017 or newer. Personally I stopped buy exotic cars for that reason. I have fine furniture because it’s made to be handed down. Usually when I pay more for anything it’s because I associate fine quality with being free of problems.

It's not a tactile pleasure to wind this watch. It is a tactile fight. It take lots of force to wind to wind the double barrels.
