What a loco, has that rare thing among freelance locos of looking plausable yet outlandish at once. Many props to the engineer behind it.

This one has an interesting history... Built by Henry Greenley for Sir Aubrey Brocklebank... there are some distinctive Greenley traits that are also apparent on Basset Lowke locos

She looks like a large version of a Raven A2 pacific.

Looking great as always but I am curious about inside the boiler and if they have tubing strips like the full sized ones or nor, or how many. Curious, as my father watches these with me and asks me such questions.

englishtwister thanks for watching and I’m pleased you liked it. These miniature locomotives are identical in operation to their full size counterparts which includes the boilers which have fire tubes as you described but far less than on a full size locomotive, the number varies depending on size and design of model but in a 5 inch Pacific engine there is on average 20 tubes.

LMS4767 One thing, I would like to see more of this engine or a side profile of it. A frontal view like in the "photograph" advertising the locomotive. As the wheels go round a little camera held by someone of it would be nice. I have done it in the past while over leighton buzzard railway. This is a suggestion. And hope it returns and features in more of your videos.

How tight of a cut off do these models run at when at speed?
@ukmodelengineering9 жыл бұрын
Railfan Brothers the answer to that depends entirely on how well the model has been built, but mainly down to the setting of the valve gear, if everything is set right they will run at speed on a level track with a good load at 10% cutoff.

LMS4767 On your personal model where does it like to be run at it when at speed?
@ukmodelengineering9 жыл бұрын
Railfan Brothers the engine in this video is not one of my own engines but did notch up nicely. On my channel there are lots of videos of my own engines and for example the 5 inch Duchess of Sutherland which is one of my own will notch up with a cut off of about 10% running on lead steam only without any problem, this will need to be increased to about 30% when climbing a gradient.
