I hadn’t cleaned my kettle in few years so I followed the first vid and got it incredibly clean! I was amazed and it only took about 1 1/2 hours.

Great vid GTE...bbq'n should be fun. Get the big stuff off and don't sweat the small stuff. Crank that bad boy up with a hot load of charcoals....instant self cleaning oven. One thing I never ever ever do is introduce any kind of soap or cleaner into the after burn clean up. Loved the part where the Mrs. says,"Hey! What are you doing!?" Lol 👍

Excellent video. I do this level of clean almost exclusively. One thing I have found that helps is to use a whisk broom to sweep out ashes the the one touch misses.
@GrillTopExperience2 жыл бұрын
Great tip! I just end up shaking the grill to get the ash to get back in front of the sweeper. The broom would be easier.

Hello dear Ryan and Msr GTE 🤗🌸💝 this one of my favourite videos for the best way to clean my grill kettle before and after each grill 👍👍👍 I like the part when you advised to make sure you’re not seen , just like my husband and myself 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣thank you very much.✌️🌹🙏🌿❤️

Exactly 👍😂 We all learn the hard way the importance of cleaning our grill kettle before and after each grill 🤗, we totally agree with you that safety comes first✌️, I learned after a couple of Hagen and fire accents, I used to believe the fire will kill all the germs, and the grey colour of charcoal is really safe until we saw our trash can was smoking.☺️ please keep up your amazing helpful learning episodes.

The ash cleaning system... on mine, when I crank the handle to move the “sweepers” (I’m not sure what they’re actually called), they are typically seized up and very hard to move. At times, I’ve had to beat them loose with a hammer by lightly tapping on them. I guess I really should’ve tried taking them apart and cleaning them before posting this comment, but do you have any tips to avoid this? Any preventative maintenance? Thanks
@GrillTopExperience3 жыл бұрын
I think they call it the One Touch Cleaning System. You'll want to swipe the sweepers back and forth a few times at the end of a cook to reduce the amount of ash they sit in until the next cook. I live in a desert, so it isn't as big of a deal, but it's something to watch for in humid climates or if you have a lot of meat drippings mixing with the ash.

Mrs GTE is pretty hard to convince to show up in the videos these days! Sometimes cleaning your kettle is like taking out the trash. You see how long it can go before you can't fit any more in there. I try not to do that though.

I got my hands on a used 22 weber kettle. I went to go clean it and I notice the lid doesnt sit flush. I have to get it a light fist bump to have the lid seat completely. Is that correctable?
@GrillTopExperience3 жыл бұрын
I'd probably have to see it to really know. Is it something you could cover up with a fire proof gasket?

I have a almost NEW Weber with that same problem. The lid seems out of round. I use grill gloves and pinch it closed when I put the lid on.

Plastic putty knife is a good tip. Thanks! I use a qtr sheet aluminum pan vs just a sheet of foil for cooking chicken since there's more fat drippings.

Always see such mixed messages on wire brushes. I personally think they remove the grease the best, but have heard stories about wire fragments in food
@GrillTopExperience2 жыл бұрын
I have a video that talks about the stats behind it and there are a lot of it happened to me/someone I know comments. There are risks in everything, but you can reduce the chances by spending more on the brush and replacing it more often.

That's good ole seasoning of the grill that you are knocking off. Please don't knock off this build up until it get's in the way of when you add a fresh cut of meat or what ever to your weber kettle. Yep clean the grate and ash from the grill, but leave the seasoning on the lid and kettle alone as it will only add more flavor as the years add on... Go to Texas and ask the BBQ guys is they clean their grills / pits , etc. the answer is heck no that stuff is flavor........
