Im a glory fan, I still to this day don't think it was a penalty but Brisbane did win, what an amazing game, and it really was an amazing finals series for Perth, will never forget that season and this game!

As a Roar fan yeah, me too. I don't think it was a penalty, but the ref can always only go off what he sees. Even when penalties are against us, I can always understand that the Ref can only see what they sees. It's sometimes good, it's sometimes shit

I'm a glory fan and you're completely right. The penalty should have never been awarded, he was offside as well, but a man down heading into extra time, we were never going to win it. It just disappoints me that we lost like this.

If you think this was not a penalty watch @7:23 in .25 speed and you'll see Berisha's left leg get kicked out of position before he stands on it, causing the air swing. Props to the ref for making a brave and correct call.

"The grand final goes according to form" - That's all that needs to be said. I saw 2 highlights in this video for Perth, one being an own goal off what was a nothing cross that in most circumstances would've been collected by the 'keeper. They didn't even show the sending off offence? Perth supporters can't claim to have been robbed, you never had anything in the first place - and lets face it, you would've needed a miracle to pull it off. That said, I wish it never ended like this.

It didn't make much sense for Berisha to dive when he was one on one with the keeper like that, but it was clearly not a penalty. However he might have taken a dive since the ball was out of range for him to take a good shot. That or he missed the shot entirely and slipped. Either way, no penalty.

Wasn't a penalty but it wasn't a dive. You could see Berisha had lost his balance just before and when he went through he must of lost his balance again and air swinged. Although there was contact between Berisha and the Perth Player. (Shown in a fox sports reply). - Brisbane fan

WRONG! Frame by frame in HD shows no contact possible because of the timing of the swinging foot with the point at which contact is supposed to have occurred. In case you're wondering, no, I am not from Perth, am not a Glory Fan, or even a keen follower of football. He had a swing & missed, so he took a dive. You've been had by a consummate "performer". Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.

Okay...I am a Brisbane fan and at first from where I was sitting in the crowd it looked like a penalty. Then once I saw the replay on the big screen I could admit that it was a dive and it shouldn't have been a penalty. But then when I got home and watched the reply over and over you can see that the Perth defender clips his ankle which pushes his foot forward making it touch the ball and bobble. If the ball had not bobbled Besart wouldn't have missed the ball.

Clear penalty. Watch from 7:22 . Slow it down. The player slide tackles from behind, in the box, nowhere near the ball. He knew what he was doing. He makes enough contact to visibly shift Berisha's leg. The leg he is about to plant before taking the shot. Not only is there contact, but the contact affects his planting leg, which causes him to miss the shot.

Not a fan of either team, but penalty decision was 100% correct call. I remember at the time screen grabbing the video and watching it back frame by frame. Berisha's boot was clearly caught by the challenge causing him to lose his step and go down.

Clipping his foot did not make him fall... right. In reality if he was truly tripped he should not have even got a swing in... he should have been on the floor immediately after contact. it was only after he swung he tripped over, which means the swing must have been the result of the fall. not the contact...

as a roar fan I've now watched this about 50 times now, from the angle of the shot, yes berisha is offside, but was there a perth player keeping him in the clear from the bottom right of the "offside" in question, if there wasn't then yes its offside, but for everyone screaming their lungs out offside offside think of what wasn't seen in the shot...

Berisha's rear foot was tapped by Perth defender putting Berisha off balance thus the air swing. You have to watch in slow motion, his rear foot, just tapped ever so slightly. Ref was correct, the rest is history. Without the tap he wld have scored anyway. I was in the top tier of Suncorp with my son !! Great atmosphere!!

Added time is always a minimum smart guy. If the ref feels there has been time wasting by the goalie for example, extra time will not stop exactly at the end. Offsides are missed all the time...get real. PG was in the Grand Final due to a missed offside. How many people do you see up in arms about that? So learn your facts. And, all of the sports Authorities in AU have agreed it was a penalty.

Some people really need to actually read up on the LAWS of this game. If a player is tripped in the box, or an ATTEMPT is made to trip a player in the box, a penalty is warranted. Really, all of your ignorance is very embarrassing. Either way, a penalty was warranted.

I don't support either club here but this is a prime example of why football needs video refereeing put in place. There is WAY too much room for human error in this sport and its a weekly occurrence in every league around the world.
