The fact anyone was allowed to bring flares into a stadium is mind-blowing - especially given the rising animus between fans and the league. The reaction by the keep and the officials was reactive and poor. You also can't view fans as a singular mind. There was obviously a party of anger fans that were trying to express something for a place of limited power. When that goalie threw the flare back at them, that is a signal to those less emotionally intelligent fans that this a fight. Hence machismo idiots running on the field with the intent to hurt others. It was layers of wrong doing. I was responding to the mischaracterization by the reporter of the goalie being a victim when they were also an aggressor in this tense situation.

People are too disorganised to protest with their wallets or other ways, so in the end it's only events like this that make big entities take notice. The few young people that are willing to keep creating trouble will affect more change if any than peaceful protests all year would do because the community is just too non committal on anything and would never follow through on missing the actual games enough to effect change.
