The one that got away - Epiphone from the same era with a REAL PAF, perfect route - amazing player. I paid 400 bucks for it and sold it for 800 -- sounded as good as my real les paul juniors...wish I had it now...

That’s a cool guitar, Dunsy. As I get older I get more drawn to these sort of slim bodied Gibsons. I’m off to the new Gibson Garage in London this month. I’m hoping I’ll get a chance to have a go on one. Hope they can bear my version of ‘Hair of the Dog’! An easy one so I don’t make too much of a berk of myself! 😂

That guitar has a great natural rock and roll sound. Loved it Mods tastefully and respectfully carried out 😊
@DunsysGuitarWorld11 ай бұрын
Yeah, you can pick these modified MM's up for less than the Epi Greeny Les Paul - crazy when you think about it. The original single coil pickups have a unique sound, but if a previous owner has done the work and put a humbucker in, these guitars really sing.

@@DunsysGuitarWorld I've seen you playing on stage with guitars that must have been much heavier though. It really does make a difference when they are lighter, it's more fun! You play exactly like both Vicki Lee and I want to play like (Your whole style and attack) eventually. 🙌🎶

@@jaimeharding75 You're too kind, Sir! Yeah, I've played a lot of gigs with 1970's Les Pauls, I still feel the pain. Re playing: I remember for the first few years after I started, I would try to get way better at lead playing. Like really spend a whole lot of my time trying to learn things perfectly. Then I realised that neither the band I was in, nor our songs actually needed some wizard on lead guitar. We needed to get better at being a band together and writing better songs together, those were the important things. That's been my philosophy for near 40 years now. A bit of melodic lead guitar, goes a long way, on a good tune. If people can whistle your guitar solo, you've nailed it. Thereafter, some Johnny Thunders and Chuck Berry shapes can take up the slack. While looking cool at the same time, obv. That's a given!

That musical interlude just after 7:00 sounds JUST like the Hellacopters! Right down to the tone. Those tuners look like Grovers. Same shape anyway.
@DunsysGuitarWorld11 ай бұрын
Yeah, if I didn’t know better I would 100% have said the Hellacopters too! I’m sure they stole it as well. It’s a Sonic’s Rendezvous Band song called “Dangerous”. First track is based on a song by the Senders. Last one is based on a Destroy All Monsters/Dark Carnival tune. Decided to pay a tribute to the home state of the guitar with 2 of the 3 songs. And the fine state of NY with the Senders one.

One more thing Dunsy. Those machine heads are jinho. There's some smoke and mirrors with this brand but they actually make grover and Wilkinson tuners for them.

I had a GS1 for a few years back in around 2000. Super guitar. Felt very much like this one, actually. I had a couple of their Exporers back in the Hair Daze too. Really nice. Probably cost a fortune now!

Yeah, definitely some kind of Grover copies - they work great and no tuning issues at all. Fantastic old instrument, meant for Rocking for sure!
@stewartmitchell800711 ай бұрын
Yeah they are grovers bud. I've had a lot of them through on guitar set ups. Junho make the off shore grovers. Perfectly fine tuners, made to grover Japan specs in China. Actually Harley benton have recently swapped from having the grover labelled ones on their higher end models to junho labelled ones. Shouldn't ever cause any issues.

Awesome work Dunsy! 😀 Love the tracks love the Guitar! Perfectly matched 😎👌 Solo at 11:44 was killer! 👹🤘 Your tracks always sound bangin! Have you ever did a vid on how you put together your tunes? What are you using for drums? I need to know! 😀
@DunsysGuitarWorld11 ай бұрын
Cheers Sir - yeah, I think that's something I should deffo do. I genuinely pretty much just dick around with a couple of riffs, to a single drum beat at a tempo I think works. Record the guitar and drum beat as a guide, then go back and build the whole track around that. Sometimes only takes a couple of hours, sometimes takes a coupla days! I use Abelton Live Suite as a DAW and for drums I use EZDrummer. I bought a lot of their drum midi packs too, so it's just a case of dragging the best fitting drum part onto the actual track. Then going through it and changing parts for intro/verse/chorus etc. I have a whole bunch of Waves VST plugins too, as they really help when mixing. In terms of amp for guitar and bass, I use the same half a dozen patches on my Kemper. It has about 400, but like most guitarists I can't be @rsed to use any more than the few that I always use!

I just want playable and I go from there. I Own a soldering gun and a Dremel tool though. Most people don't. :)

100%! People should play guitars that they love and that sound great. No need for vintage stuff. Strangely enough all 4 of my vintage MM's cost less individually than a new Epi Greeny Les Paul. Crazy when you think about it.
@rofflestomp68411 ай бұрын
@@DunsysGuitarWorldThat indeed is as crazy as it sounds. Wiring a Peter Green kinda thing costs very little. Marketing is so trendy. Not many people even know who Green was. Old Melody Makers are fantastic guitars. Prices seem to be creeping up for ones in good original condition, but "players grade" examples are ridiculously cheap for what you get. I got my refinished and refretted '65 a couple of years ago for less than what they're charging for some new Epiphones!
@DunsysGuitarWorld11 ай бұрын
Yeah, 100% Of the 4 that I own, every one cost less than some of the new Epiphone Les Pauls. 2 have been modded and 1 has had a neck break. The great thing with a modded one is that someone has already done the work to make it more rock hardy. Plus it's 1/2 the price of an all original one that I wouldn't want to change.
