8:27 A neck pocket gap does make an ideal pic holder though, in my experience and if you ever need to tweak the neck alignment, you’ll be glad of the gap - the bigger, the better! That’s what the salesman told me. And he seemed very certain. 🙃
@DunsysGuitarWorld7 сағат бұрын
Could fit a tin of Golden Virginia in there! My dad's favourite brand, as I remember. Aye, it doesn't look great under the microscope, but it works no too bad. Mind the gap! Ahem. 😂
@derekclacton7 сағат бұрын
@@DunsysGuitarWorld One of my partscaster Teles has a big gap at the back of the pocket, which is tricky to deal with, as I have a 22 fret neck with an ‘overhang’ so can’t see the gap when it’s fitted. Pretty sure that gap will affect sustain and acoustic resonance. Don’t want to redrill the neck holes because comparing it all with my other partscaster Tele, which has a proper fitting neck, it will throw out the scale length, looking at the saddle positions. The joys of partscaster guitars - often a challenge to overcome! 👍

The darker fingerboard has definitely improved the look, imho and the pickup swap has given it some real bite! Nice project guitar, Dunsy! 👍 Would you gig it? 🎸🤔
@DunsysGuitarWorld7 сағат бұрын
Yeah, I agree. It does look better with the darker rosewood and I was really enjoying the bite that those pickups have. I'm well impressed for £35 or something. I always want to try on stage with single coils - but whenever I get to the rehearsal room I just miss the grunt of humbuckers. Could be a mental block? Or a mental bloke?!
@derekclacton7 сағат бұрын
@@DunsysGuitarWorld It’s a funny thing - if I had to choose one pickup type, it would be a humbucker but I have more single coils 🙃 Is it just me who thinks that somehow single coils sound more revealing in a live mix (?) I feel more comfortable playing humbuckers and am going to put a humbucker in my Tele neck as a sort of compromise. Don’t know if any of that makes sense…

Absolutely! I remember buying it, then being a bit miffed at the time as it didn't fit any Tele I had. At various points over the last decade I probably noticed it when tidying up and was 1/2 way to binning it. But, here were are, turns out it was well worth the £40!

Your right about the metal scratch plate Dunsy. I've seen loads and talked to others about the science and the jury is out but metal scratch plate can be excellent at noise suppression but also boost frequencies between 200/400hz which can overpower the top end from the pick up but can help with overly bright pickups. Exactly the opposite of what you'd think.
@DunsysGuitarWorld7 сағат бұрын
I was totally surprised when I changed the pickguard - I think the neck pickup is still a little on the bassy side, but it seems to have brighted up enough where I was really liking the sound. Science, eh?!

One of my favorite albums as well . Thank you for the lesson . I have had a heck of a time trying to figure out the 2d guitar work on the song 'Animal Magnetism' . The 1st guitar and the solo are pretty simple but I don't know if it is my poor hearing that I can't seem to figure out the (I Am , almost sure 🤔 are simple diads ) deep in the mix . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Very happy that I found your channel sir ! Stay safe !!!

Thank ya for checking it out. I am, 100% genuinely, stuck on exactly the same part as you on Animal Magnetism! I can hear the second guitar in the background - and it does sound like simple diads, but what they are is escaping me at the moment. There's one that sounds a little discordant and that's what's giving me the trouble. I'll persevere this weekend though and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for checking them out - I’m a huge fan of Curve. Man, it’s so difficult to try to work out what is being played on the guitars! For the sound on this one I genuinely just threw everything at it in terms of modulation, reverb and delay - just kept going until I had something that I thought sounded okay. I’m gonna do some research to see if I can figure out what they used in their live signal chains.

I own one, it's one actually featured on his website. It's an unmatched beauty although yours is damned close and phenomenally beautiful. It's the absolute best guitar that I've ever owned or played in my entire life. It's honestly a $5-6k tier quality build for a quarter of that price. The neck is infallible, the fretwork is flawless, try as i may, i have never found a singular flaw in the build or finish. Mine has the igneous pickups that's ceramic based. I really wish i would've gone with the alnico based rune set, that's just my personal preference. The pickups are still the best that I've ever owned. I've owned countless sets of custom pickups as well as the most well known sets, and these are extremely well engineered, well made, encased in metal, indestructible. There's absolutely nothing that i can't do with them tonally. They cover an insanely versatile range. What really blew my mind was the grain interplay with lighting. Mine's made from black limba(body), sycamore top (my God it's gorgeous and so unique). The neck is maple and wenge, with a sycamore fretboard. Under sunlight, natural lighting, all of these grains appears and looks almost like they're moving. It's insane! The neck just feels like it was molded to my hand. It's absolutely effortless to play. It's tonally balanced, resonant, projects acoustically. If you can't tell I'm in love with mine. I've owned it for 4 years now and it's the love of my life. I'll seriously be buried with it when i pass from this world lol. I've put it up against Mayones Hydra, strandberg, many many other guitars and nothing has beaten it's sheer feel, playability, beauty, economics. I play mostly modern Prog Metal/djent but pay jazz, blues, rock as well and it covers everything flawlessly. What I've been most impressed by is it's stability. It took a direct hit from a falling older iMac during moving, it caused some light damage, but by all rights it should've been destroyed. It just ended up with an indention in the horn(still broke my heart though). It didn't knock it out of tune one bit lol.i haven't even had to have it set up over the last 4 years. It's held perfectly after climate changes, moves, countless hours of play. The really sad thing though is Alan's basically only building basses now. His guitars are criminally unknown. You will not find a better guitar, especially at his price points. The amount of attention, the fit and finish, is completely unparalleled.
