Behringer just released the „Vintage“ soft synth, so don’t despair. While analog gear is nice, limited financial capabilities have never been less relevant for musical talent. A used MacBook with Logic (or just a laptop with Ubuntu Studio) is all one needs. Top notch production capability is available for everybody who can watch KZbin. Our society was considered rich, yet 35 years ago I had nothing except a flute and an old piano. Be thankful.

I don't care what anyone says. Behringer is the coolest synth developer out there today rivaled only by UDO. Their mission to collect and re-engineer ancient, museum-piece equipment and bring them into mass production again in hardware form is honorable.

@@DurararaX2 Nobody else is going to make replicas like these. Not everyone can get the real things and Behringer modernizes them to be capable of more than the originals. It'd be another matter entirely if they were making complete junk, but their machines are actually remarkably solid considering how little they cost. It's a great business for them and it makes the synth market far more accessible. That's a win for everyone.

I love Behringer. My first product of theirs was a 5 channel mixer. got two of them, then got an 12 channel. now got their x-touch controller and a Behringer X-AIR mixer, played with their Wing mixer and it is amazing also. Their only synth I owned was their Deepmind 12, still young in the synth world, I ended up selling it and while I don't regret it, I miss having it. Since then following the Behringer journey in what you'd call replicating copying other older synths, having that cost friendly alternative to bask in the experience that once was; is such a gift. I can't imagine how many hours of circuit analysis, engineering, and program processing it must take to re-create and even implement additional features to their products, must take, and I certainly don't see anyone else doing that. It's a hats off and dance in my opinion. The MS-5 looks and sounds fantastic!

With respect, the Sub Phatty has a much warmer, deeper, fatter sound. It definitely lives up to its name. This is a nice recreation of the original, but seems to lack the warmth and juicy fatness of the original. Perhaps some more tweaking before release will be able to get it closer to sounding more like the original.

berhinger you are crushing it lately, I seriously want all the synths you guys are remaking. The only thing that I would love to see change, is your logo and color. Especially the color. It may be trivial, but also maybe not. People get the moog logo tattooed because it's so simple and rad. I really believe the logo could really change how berhinger is seen and how it feels when you buy one of your products. But otherwise keep up what you're doing cuz I freaking love it!

Some oscillators sound better than others? I'd say no BUT the signal path after the oscillator can suck the life and warmth out of them. High pass filters are essential on a synth but might do this, capacitors for DC blocking also can strip the goodness from oscillators.
