Legendary Yrjö Puronvarsi forge in Härmä, Southern Ostrobothnia is making blades in sixth generation. The handle and the sheath was done by Osmo Borodulin of the ‪@thetopicala‬

This knife is the definition of Leuku - there a simply no mis-steps as to style or quality. And then I look at the skill level attained to make the handle and fit the end cap & the perfect lines of the sheath and I'm blown away. Well done to both the artist and the patron!!!👍👍👍😍 PS - the YP blade isn't too shabby either. 😉

I have one of these blades matched up with a puukko also from yp in a double sheath. It’s a nice set up, but the handle on your leuku is much nicer. Congratulations and thanks for the pointer to Osmo’s channel!

I was wondering when you would put out a video on a Puronvarsi, it was inevitable sooner or later. Great knives. The only way to get one is to either make it yourself or have someone like Osmo make one for you. At a guess from scale, it looks like the 160mm blade. edit: I had missed the bit where you said that it was 200mm.

@@OldForestBushcraft OK so I have a couple of weeks to get my review out before the competition 😂🤣. To be perfectly honest I haven't used mine a lot. I rather prefer to use my Skrama. It is a little less heavy and a lot less beautiful (wich means I am not afraid to beat the holy crap out of it). I actually have quite a lot of knives that I want to make videos about that I just don't feel I have used enough. This leuku though has appeared a couple of times on my Spanish channel though. I really have to say, that birch bark handle does look fantastic Look forward to seeing it in future videos. You will probably see more of mine in a few months when I find more time to be away from the dogs and in the forest. .

@@KuukkeliBushcraft I definitely get what you mean, Im anxious to get to testing the Skrama 200. Could see it becoming one of my heavy use blades. The 240 just basically sits and waits when I have something to chop in the garden, too heavy and clumsy in the woods.

Wow. His work is really spectacular indeed! His video are really some of the best when it comes to Nordic knifemaking in general. I've learnt alot from them. Been looking at YP blades for a long time. Toivo Jaaranen leuku blades also look nice, and pretty affordable. I really like the 65mm clip point Jaaranen blade I made a handle for last year. Also, Fiskars seem to have released a new puukko 🤔. You going to check it out? Pretty interesting ferrule design..

​@@OldForestBushcraft Just be aware that Jaaranen blades are not Scandi/saber ground. The smaller blades are hollow with a convex secondary. The leukus are convex (according to Brisa customer service). Really good quality though.

Love this blade, it looks like a saber grind? and that mirror polish combined with the birch bark handle is very nice indeed. i checked the specs for this, is it really 5mm thick?
