A strong-willed, 6-year-old little Gerard didn’t like the passage “I commit to you to sing sing prison there to be hanged…”, read aloud by her older siblings. When it was little Gerard’s turn to read out the same passage, she recited the ‘Hail Holy Queen’ instead. Little did she know then that she had a calling to a significant ministry that God had planned. Sr. Gerard Fernandez is a sister of the Order of the Good Shepherds, founder of the Roman Catholic Prison Ministry, and death row counselor. She shares the moving stories of prisoners whose lives are transformed by the light of God as they walk toward their death row.

Dear Sister Gerard, Greetings of Peace! I am grateful to know that my fellow Filipino once a prisoner in Singapore and received death penalty experienced the grace of God and Mother Mary through your unceasing prayers and novena. I was in grade school that time when Flor Contemplacion''s story was tailed by news media here in the Philippines until to her death. Her life story was portrayed in the movie but i did not watch it. If I am not mistaken, the Filipina was Flor Contemplacion. I am glad to hear her story of conversion before she went to the afterlife.
