How is second last question (b) o.8f isn't 0.4
@burrowsphysics2 жыл бұрын
So I'm not sure I entirely understand your question but I'm aasuming you are asking why the distance is 0.8 and not 0.4? The answer is because the force F is a perpendicular distance of 0.8 from the pivot

For the first queston I don't think it is meant to be -1 because anticlockwise torques are positive right? Correct me if I am wrong

You can define whichever direction you like as positive or negative, it shouldn't affect the end result.

Isnt the last question c an explain question? Rather than telling us to work out the reaction force?
@burrowsphysics3 жыл бұрын
You are correct actually I didn't realise I hadn't answered the last question, I calculated what the force would be without explain why it had to be that!

@@burrowsphysics so what would the answer be?
@alexmccaw58212 жыл бұрын
@@ifesjournal I believe the answer would be to state that forces up = forces down for an object in equilibrium, and therefore 1.6...x10^2 + 87.05... (from the previous calculation) = 249N for the forces up, and the forces down are 200N + 49N (from the first calculation), therefore forces are balanced, so the forces acting on the table allow 0 resultant force to be experienced by the tabletop.
