They example of the Japanese babies having high anxiety due to not being separated from their mother, could also apply to babies in the US as well if they are not use to being with other people. Many mothers stay home with their babies and are the primary caretakers, with very few other people caring for the baby. Also taking temperament into consideration this could make a difference in the babies reaction as well if the babies is naturally more of a cautious child.

Yea for sure. The point is just looking at differences in cultural norms. There will always be exceptions.
