To desire what we lack, and to desire the continuation of what we already possess amounts to the desire of immortality. We want the good immortalized within us.

The striving itself MUST be learned to be enjoyed.

The Lucinda Williams concert does not seem to me to be a suitable analogy. The concert as it was expressed as a desire and the concert as it was experienced were two different things. Thus, only by some semantical maneuver, or equivocation, is the desire met in the argument, but he absolutely did not want a late, costly experience around drunk people.

I personally think desire eventually leads to boredom, the satisfaction will be shortlived and eventually when you have everything, you are bored.

A desire is continual if it is fulfilling. Concepts of 'fulfillment' or 'contentment' is what is lacking from this presentation.

Our desire is because of lack of continuation)

I think you're making conceptual mistake which the basic distinction between desire and happiness, by definition desire is something you lack until you have have it and no longer desire it , notice it is charcaterized by repetition as well (you desire food until you have it and then desire it again) versus happiness and when you speak about relationship, support etc those are part of your hapiness not your desires.

The philosophy is a lie in my reality.. I have things I wanted - and I love them more than before I got them. Socrates was really smart, and he was gifted in some philosophy, but when he compared himself to a fly, I understood why I did not relate. I just don't relate with some philosophers. Its a good thing.
