The idea of a human identifying with Mars as “Home” and as earth as a foreign place is an incredible thought. The fact that it’s GOING to happen is just mind blowing. The fact that Mars will probably just be the first step for the human race, even more so....

@Mike Anderson Who could have foreseen the bankruptcy of a scammy company with absolutely no technology for space travel? 😅
@m.hansen11494 жыл бұрын
@Mike Anderson In the interviews with him I've seen, Lansdorp comes across a very unsympathetic and arrogant. He repeatedly said he expected some billionaire to by the Mars One company. As if a billionaire would ever need Lansdorp for a mission to Mars. All he had was a simple idea for a terrible reality show. Derp, indeed.

If humans can live and survive on Mars without having to work and pay tax, why can't we do the same here on earth?
@dawnkumar56698 жыл бұрын
We have the technology! We have developed the Dehumidifier, Oxygen Extractor, Hydroponics, Inflatable Buildings, and better rocket propulsion. Lets put these technologies together and go to #mars!

Its good to be optimistic and try to get things done. And I dont want to sound sceptic, especially when im very fond of the idea of mars and if i ever get to go there im sure i would take the opportunity. But at this moment im sure the ride wont be as good as you make it to be. You most likely wont live that long. So its important to know if you go on a one way mission there youre most likely going to die. And probably not long after you arrive. But if you manage to survive however it will be the greatest accomplishment in human history. And that makes it all worth it. That said i think Mars one really are way in over theyre heads considering the trip theyre about to make. And im very interested to see how they will manage to get funds for this project. I do belive we get to mars and it will be a major breakthrough but I seriously doubt we will manage to live on mars for long periods of our lives. Its really important that we try to find solutions to solve the problems than make the problems stop us from trying. Its important to be courageous and hungry for exploration. To seek knowledge and solve the problems we face as humans on Mars. But I seriously hope these astronauts knows what theyre getting into. Because this ride will be very unpleasant.

Any news on what happens to the project now? If I understand it correctly, February (2015) were supposed to be a significant month for the project but so far nothing?
@martiancolonist9 жыл бұрын
ola eriksson The selection of the final 100 candidates was the most significant news in February. More news is coming soon, focusing on the technical aspects of the 2018 lander and life support systems.

Alexandre Gurchumelia No he didn't, his words have been twisted by the author. The article is full of factual inaccuracies, and a full explanation of them is coming out on Thursday.
@Hauerization9 жыл бұрын
Martian Colonist Thanks for the answer, appriciated - yes, I was aware of the candidate selection narrowing down, I was thinking more in what way the project will go now - like for example the "tv-show", as to when it will start, were will we be able to see it, and so on.

Alexandre Gurchumelia I must admit "scam" is a word that has occured to me from time to time when it comes to Mars One, although I try to keep my mind neutral til I get as much information as possible. If it indeed IS a scam, its so huge its documentary-worthy. ;)
