I agree Diane. David is also a really nice person. I have met him several times and own one of his paintings. It was a gift to myself for a special landmark birthday. The painting is incredible. It doesn't matter what time of day or night you look at it, the light seems to glow out from it.

I bought a hard cover edition of the book some twenty five years ago and it's still on my bed table. David knows the exact thought process of the artist that guides the brush in different locations and weathers and times of day. The book is indeed a much valued asset to me.

Yes. One of my favourite oil painting books. It truly is a master class. A lot of books illustrate the technical aspects but David's book goes beyond that as he explains why he makes decisions and choices. I had the pleasure of meeting David the other week at Patchings Art Festival in Calverton, UK and he kindly signed my copy of his book.

It is... if you take the time to read it, you can learn the techniques to make your paintings look like the light is glowing out of them. I think the book is out of print, but there are plenty of second hand copies available. In my opinion, it is the best book out of the five David has written. David is a fantastic landscape artist and a lovely person too. I've had the pleasure of meeting him several times. I bought his painting as a birthday treat to myself. It was a special birthday. I really pushed the boat out and haven't regretted it once. Happy painting Anne.
