Hi Peter, I hope you are keeping well, l enjoyed your recent video of Alderney Lighthouse and it is good to see what l looked like 30 years 😊ago in this one. Keep up the good work. Your videos re much appreciated by so many people.

Hi Robbie, thanks for that. Who would have thought that the movie we made together on Hanois would pass one million views! As for the alderney video, at times it seems like just a short time ago, but 30 years, grief, time is flying by. I'm still OK, hope you are well too. Take care Mate and stay safe.

In a world where our daily duties are done lightening speed, how good would it be to have some time away on a light house, no gadgets, social media or distractions. I know I would pay a lot of money to get away from time to time. Keep up the great work Peter, you had a vision and today it’s paying off by educating those of us who would have known nothing about the daily duties of the keepers. ❤

Thank you very much for your kind comments. With me still editing these videos on an almost daily basis, it takes me back to the Lighthouse life that I loved. Very nostalgic, wish I had a time machine! Yes, I wish everybody, (that wants to) could experience the slower way of life, without all the hassles. Cheers and stay safe. Oh, if you really want to get away from the jungle for a while, Bardsey Island is a good one to google, or Skokholm Island.

Thank you Peter another great video . These times for the lighthouse seem so English and eccentric up to todays clinical health and safety and purely functional and basic lamps

Thank you very much David. Yes indeed, no soul in our Lighthouses anymore. There will be some Florida Lighthouse ones coming out before the years end. Boy, do the Americans know how to run a Lighthouse museum, I was more than just impressed. Cheers and stay safe.

Great video, good impression of what life was like on a rock light, particularly the noise of the generator engine, and as you say emergency evacuation to where? On another video I recall reference to damp in winter months. One good thing of automation was removing the keepers from the rock lights. But not good removing them from the shore or land based lights, those extra lookout eyes.

Thank you very much, and too true with the lack of watchful eyes on our coasts now. Also, I always thought that our evacuation methods were just box ticking episodes. Cheers and stay safe.

Fabulous documentary. I find this so calming to watch. Did you ever get anxious or nervous during storms?
@PeterHalil3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. I guess that the very first storm was a bit surprising, what with an enormous granite tower quivering with each blow! but after that, I felt perfectly safe. Cheers and stay safe.

Another wonderful episode Peter, Thankyou. I hope this message finds you well and I know I should comment more often, I will endeavour. Beautiful old skool living and working conditions - so wonderfully British. Do you have a big get together of old keepers every now and then or have all the old stories been told and just memories of friends remaining? Fascinating life style! Hopefully many more videos left to transfer and publish

Thank you very much, much appreciated. I believe that the ALK, Association of Lighthouse Keepers get together to do Lighthouse visits every year? I'm now nearly out of footage, but then it will be a few Lighthouse Videos from our Florida Holidays. Cheers and stay safe.

These fog horns, do they still work nowadays?
@robbiegoldsmith87272 ай бұрын
Hi Jutta. When the lighthouse was automated in 1996 the fog signal was changed to an electric emitter and a few years later all fog signals on offshore lighthouse were discontinued.
