My son sophomore year he's learning how to weld. I told him it's a good occupation get into and they teaching lot better ways what me and Grandpa show him.

Staring at a weld with no shield! that's exactly why I switched to crane operating no shade hats off to welders. But there are way too many health risk I just didn't wanna have late in life I'm 42 now and this is the time when all those mistakes start to really catch up!

You'd be surprised to know that clear glasses actually protect your eyes from quite a lot of uv rays. Not as much as a welding helmet but even they don't protect your eyes from it 100%

I’ve never welded before and I applied for a pipe line welding internship and I was wondering how I can keep up with other around me that have been welding for longer than me?? Appreciate your input!

Smoke is not an issue. There is so much smoke there that if was an issue, you would have to stop because your eyes, nose and throat would be burning.
