There is a cool backstory to this song. Several years back Toby was playing Golf with Clint. Toby asked him his secret and Clint responded basically keep busy and don't let the old man in. Toby wrote the song when he returned home and sent to Clint for his birthday. Clint included it on the soundtrack for his movie The Mule. Toby recently performed the song at the CMA's and there could not be a dry eye in the house or at home watching. Toby truly made the world a better place. R.I.P. Big Man.

These are clips from 'The Mule' Clint's movie from 2018. Toby received the People's choice County icon award & performed this song at them in September. He was so frail & thin, it was painful to watch, but the song fit perfectly. He actually did 3 shows in Vegas in December. He refused to quit. He also wrote a beautiful song for his friend Wayman Tisdale when he passed from Cancer & it would be fitting to do that one now as well. It describes how we all feel about losing Toby. 'Cryin' for me'. Awesome song.

I saw an interview with Toby in which he told how this song came about. He was buddies with Clint Eastwood and they were playing golf one day. Clint was 88 years old at the time and getting ready to make another movie. Toby asked him how he kept going so well at his age. Clint said he got outside every day, stayed busy, and just "didn't let the old man in." After they parted, Toby said to himself, "You know what, I love that old man. I'm going to write a song just for him." He wrote this song and sent it to Clint as a gift. Clint wound up using it in his movie. By the way, I'm enjoying your reactions very much and you are definitely not stupid. (Well, I guess someone could call both of us "Baltimorons." 🙂 lol)
