Lucky to see them 3 times and Donald Fagen on a solo tour. True music fans all eventually run into the Dan. Great reaction!

I love these early works: everything up through Relayer. After that? I couldn't tolerate anything they did. It all became heavy, gimmicky, pop oriented and uninteresting.

If you want to see another crazy Prince performance, check out the tribute to George Harrison (one of The Beatles). The song "My Guitar Gently Weeps", All the performers were Great, but Prince goes off. Fantastic performance!

RIP Tito. Always liked him. So sad. 😢 Yes, I preferred the mid-late 70s Jacksons. "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Let me Show You...." are Classics!

Steely Dan got their name from a sci fi book. A Steely Dan was the name of a vibrator. I like Black Friday, Dirty Work, FM, Reelin in the Years and lots more

Sasha Baron Cohen is the OG troll. Ali G is just one of his multiple comedic characters he plays. His movie mockumentary “Who is America” still holds up. He is a comedian and gives zero Fs. Same guy that plays Borat.

The Dead has two drummers I'm very lucky, I grew up in Macon in the late 60's early 70's I've been listening to the Brothers literally my whole life. I heard this live before I ever heard the studio version, the studio version was almost a letdown lol

FM radio needed this kind of music and this kind of music needed FM radio. The nuances in the music needed a high fidelity medium for it to be heard, and the medium needed the nuances to make buying high fidelity equipment worthwhile. Without yacht rock, FM radio flops. Without FM radio, yacht rock never becomes a thing.

If really want to go down this rabbit hole, go find other music that the studio musicians played on. I started down that hole in my teens. Nearly 50 years later, I still haven’t plumbed its depths. But I’ve learned so much along the way. The rewards are endless.

Steely Dan named themselves after an object in that staple of Beat Literature, Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs. The “Steely Dan” in question was a steam-powered, mechanical dildo. Right away, the name suited the music to a T.

I was 5 years old when The Jackson Five began to have their greatest early success. By the mid-to-late 1970s, most radio program directors at the mainstream Pop/Rock thought that the Jacksons were a washed-up Oldies band. That was definitely not the case at the R & B and Dance music stations. The Jacksons found their niche in the American music scene, and made it work to their benefit.

Vince Gill was much more re than gospel. Country music is well known for it’s s ballads and love songs. There. is much more to country music than than you might think. It is a massive genre with numerous subsets.

The Jackson's artistic growth era (Leaving Motown) was their peak imo. Them being able to write their own songs and experiment with genres and sounds was the best thing they could do to reinvent themselves from the boy band.
