These are wonderful birds in the same family and very similar to Crows. We don't have Jackdaws in the USA but they are fun to watch

That was a beautiful video...sometimes I wonder whether wild animals that 'choose' humans like this , have been something /someone special in a previous life to us .....I am an atheist but feel this at times. Whenever I feel lousy ( has been a bit lately ) , a family of 4 pied currawongs visit me in my yard....out of the blue they were there one day. If I don't see them there , they gather at my glass sliding doors to my yard and tap on the glass . The fact that they choose me is special. This gorgeous bird has chosen you...he is so cute ! I love these little guys ...we don't have them here in Australia . It's heartwarming to see you don't lock him in a cage. It breaks my heart to think that some birds watch their relatives flying free while they are caged indoors.. :( What a beautiful friendship you 2 share . ..and thank you for sharing . I really enjoyed it xxx I just read some comments...I didn't realise that these guys are from the crow family.....we have crows in Aus...think I 'll google them xxx

The closest I've ever been to any corvid, was a lone jackdaw who just didn't fly away when I approached it. It was picking plastic off a bin in a supermarket yard, so I gave it the crust of my sandwich, which it took out my fingers and ate on the spot! Couldn't believe it at the time, but it seems jackdaws are actually one of the least suspicious and cautious corvids, besides ravens. I called that jackdaw Thug, because he was so bold, and unlike the patterns and call/response of other jackdaw vocalisations, he was firing off every single noise he could make like a broken toy! ❤
