A Little Husk Problem | Barotrauma

I remember we had some get infected with Husk, but it was the person we had already accepted a few missions earlier, that they didn't type or talk, and just did their job... Yeah, they were husked. Transformed in the reactor room, infected two of the engineers. Said they were fine... Later on, only by about 10~ minutes, one of em has a weird thing out of his mouth trying to infect people. They were taken out by security, then the body was shoved out the airlock. Second engineer, that guy didn't try to infect anyone. Heck, we couldn't find him. My guess is he was hiding in the lowest part of the submarine, in one of the ballast rooms. Eventually went to the medical bay, and died. Medic got infected, security got infected.... Finally was decided to weld that part of the ship before it would spread even further. So roughly 4 of the 16 we had, got infected and turned. Straight up zombie apocalypse in a submarine, when a husk infection breaks out.

but some secrutiy if they have enough booze down some have been outed to willingly die inorder to keep a ship alive if they become husked naimly by exiting out an air lock and letting them self POP as most crews call it. if i know the ship medic for the times im not that medic i will willingly yeet my self into the void in order to save the ship as i like to think most of my people all have before becoming specialists have had a fair few run ins with husked shipwrecks and had experienced people tell em if they feel the los of speach and the docs broadcasted they dont got many meds for it its best to save the ship the truble.

When you get infected with Husk, the game mutes your mic bc the parasite apparently fucks with your vocal chords

It obstructs the entirety of the throat presumably, and because of this inhibits breathing; though apparently this is not a problem because by the time you get to that stage, you do not require oxygen, which suggests you’re either dead/unconscious or obtaining oxygen from eldewhere
