Why would a shaper ever need to run backwards? Are you sure it's not to run it on 110V? I have a table saw that can be wired to run on 220V or 110V just by switching the wires.

Sometimes I run cutters with profiles on the top and the bottom of the Qatar. There are times where you don't want to run the one profile by raising it up in the air so you flip it over the other way and run it in the opposite direction. From what I've seen it seems to be only on shapers that have this type of wiring. My stock feeder is well has the same wiring

If you have no clue don't mess with it.

That's a very good point. My problem is I'm stubborn

Did you reinstall the reversing switch?

No i didn't. I never actually needed it. I have an other shaper with a reverse

I installed a plug for a feeder on the shaper I run raised panels on. It blew 2 fuses before I figured out I had the ground wire on the wrong terminal on the plug. Felt pretty dumb when I finally figured it out.
