@mike_qbik2 жыл бұрын
do you position the flights when preparing for the throw? nobody really addressed this, but I am curious if you do slightly rotate the dart so the flights are in + position or x for the throw. would really like to know if you all players out there doing this little adjustment when aiming or not.
@robkunkel8833 Жыл бұрын
I had that same question. The flights can be different in position and this IS a little rocket ship.

The more I throw darts the more I realize the release is the most important part of the throw.
@iterminator3093 жыл бұрын
Of all factors, from stance, the way you index, how tightly you grip, the amount of power you input, where and how you release... The most important thing is consistency, because shitty stance can be corrected, indexing changes, grip evolves, weak throws (choose heavier darts) and less than optimal releases can all be accounted for when none of the other factors change. So whatever you do, just do it exactly the same every time, and all those screwed up stems and flights will start to annoy you to the point where you consider alternatives less prone to getting Robin Hooded. Development of muscle memory, that's the secret sauce... Everything else is a matter of either style or personal preference. You can have the weirdest grip in the world, if you can make it work consistently for you, then it doesn't really matter, you can adapt the dart to your particular needs by changing points, stems, flights all short of swapping out barrels. (you even get a weight that threads between the barrel and stem called "add-a-gram") You can play well with cheaper darts. A 80% tungsten barrel isn't worse than a 95% one, the 95% is just slimmer/shorter due to the higher density alloy used. I've thrown some pretty good Stainless and Brass darts that grouped consistently too. It's all about consistency. And that comes with plenty of practice. That said, as a beginner your release will be the least consistent of all the above mentioned factors.
@christiangerhardt24083 жыл бұрын
@@iterminator309 yes I try to be very consistent also in throw tempo. Somehow I find that I sometimes just grip to long or roll my finger over the barrel and that is where the in consistency lie.
@iterminator3093 жыл бұрын
@@christiangerhardt2408, good, I found no difference in accuracy when changing tempo as far as I can tell, as long as power is a constant factor it does not matter how long it takes to throw between the first, 2nd and third darts, I do find trying to pace excessively quick detrimental though. And tend not to allow "quicker" throwers to throw me off my game. Best of luck, and many good darts.

@trevorclapham55714 жыл бұрын
I am no pro and shouldn’t be giving advice, but for what it’s worth; I hear this can be caused by you elbow moving during your throw.

I usually throw off Centre when I either bring my wrist down and to the right because I want to generate more force or because I overgrip the dart.

Everybody has their own unique way of throwing a dart, what works for one person doesn't work for another, is it something you can really teach?
@iterminator3093 жыл бұрын
While everyone throws differently, keeping the shoulder still, and positioning of the elbow and wrist along the vertical line in relation to where you aim including how they move, and shouldn't move are important things to take note of and can affect your throw wildly. While the perfect throw cannot be taught, an optimal method open to 98% of players can, and you adapt your own personal style and preference onto that. While there is no single right way to throw a dart, there are a couple of wrong ways, these lessons attempt to teach good practices and keep you from falling into bad habits like cocking your elbow mid throw. (you'd be surprised how many beginners struggle with that in particular)

I warn you all now, if you try to do what Paul Nicholson is preaching here you are going to get Dartitis. He even enhances his pontificating with a series of subliminal images and you don't even realise it. He doesn't know how a dart or anything else is projected. There is no rhythm here, nor is there any line of sight, flight or direction. He goes on about power but he can't install any with this, his throw? This video, like 90% of other instructional video's, is dire. He cannot sling a dart like he undoubtedly did before but feels the need to still be involved. Don't try it. Don't even watch it! Just because someone was renowned for doing something doesn't mean they can still do it. Likewise, doing something with aplomb doesn't mean you know how your doing it FACT.
